Old local newspapers are an interesting place to find historical VW items.
If you'd been a young bloke back in 1960, would you have applied for these jobs at Motorways, the VW dealer at Rockdale?
Motorways Rockdale was a VW dealer from 1956 to 1968.

Other VW dealers were looking for workers too. How about starting at Ronstan Motors VW at Lakemba, either as a 'lad' or as an experienced mechanic? This ad is from 1961.
Ronstan Motors were VW dealers from 1960 to 1968, then switched to Toyota. Their site still exists on Canterbury Rd.
I don't know which VW dealer is advertising in the third ad...

This is a typical local newspaper ad for Motorways Rockdale, from the St George Leader (about 1960)

Volkswagen LAD

Yes, LAD! Those were the days - if you wanted to employ a bloke, you could.😂
Motoways is where I bought my first Beetle - paid 971 pounds, as there were NO deals then. It was a January, 1960, Gunyah Grey, with semaphores.😎

If only I could go back in time and work at one of these places, I might own a big VW superstore and actually know what I was doing when working on a boxer engine.
The thing is, It is now that I am out of work so I guess its a bit late to start as an apprentice in my early 40's 🥲

LX prefix was Rockdale, St Peters probably would have been LA

The old Motorways Rockdale premises are still there. Last time I drove past they were vacant.

Never too late Kev with Gov incentives etc,but as robb says could you live on the wage,it would be better to buy the business and work hands on with the staff.
