While no huge fan - I think most (???) of us have read the sermons??

Well - maybe I am showing my age.

Anyway - the man contributed a lot the the VW word and certainly left a mark

T'is sad

Yes Barry, I have been following his blogs for a number of years and learned a lot from them. He was originally a VW-trained dealer mechanic during the 1960s and all his knowledge, tips and tricks came from original factory training. He had been fighting cancer for a number of years.

He will be long remembered for his very informative - and blunt - pieces on workshop wisdom and looking after your VW. He'll probably be remembered even longer for having a VW engine part named after him - the 'Hoover Bit'. That's the small piece of pressed steel that fits around the base of the doghouse Type 1 oil cooler and acts as an air seal and shroud mounting point - and the bit that nearly everyone leaves off.

He wrote a series of terrific workshop articles years ago, called 'TULZ' ('tools') that explained in the most basic terms how to use your workshop properly and how to best look after your VW. We printed them in the Club Veedub magazine years ago - when we get the website redesigned, we'll post them there.

I was a huge fan of his. Thanks Bob for all your advice.
