Warwick pics and vids

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/86348/warwick-pics-and-vids

Dasdubber ·

I figured it might be worthwhile starting a new thread with the vids and or pics from Warwick.

I haven't had time to upload any vids other than Ben Ford's unfortunate crash below. I always forget how long it takes to upload to youtube so will endeavour to get more up during this week.

Cheers
Al

rose ·

We are home safe.

I had a great week end drag racing I did my best time yesterday ever in Buz and broke out with a 10.007 sec pass I was happy. I reacon if I pull the seats out and have a better reaction time I will get it into the 9's there's always next time.

I had heaps and heaps of fun I managed in between the rain on Sat to get in 9 passes one I was run was fun with no traction even with road tyres I did a 13sec pass spin in first than second so the guys that had slicks man they must have huge balls to go out there and have a go.

And seven passes on Sun.

Thanks to all the organisers for another terrific weekend of Drag Racing well done.

Does anyone have the video of Wayne from Vintage going over the finish line backwards I missed it???

RISKY4LIFE ·

WOW what a weekend
i dont even know how to feel about it
i had been working 16 hour days for the last week just to make it there spedt all my money
and only got two runs on sat which was not real fast but better then none
as soon as i hit 4K the darn thing would die and got worse
did the water pump in and stripped a thread
fixed them but with no coolent was going to try and see if i would run in the aircooled class LMAO
then i couldn't rev the dam thing at idle
before i left i new there was a prob but it would rev at idle but had none at load was hopeing that i could sort it up there anyways
meet some cool people and seen some cool cars
i took of sunday lunch time to to get home before dark as i had to work today and was trying to beat the rain home 🙅
anyways i have heaps of time to get the buggy ready for next year hey did anyone get a pic of my silver buggy with an l18 ? as a friend has asked me for one and never took any

Stanley ·

Awesome pics Marcus and vids Al. I was next to run after Wayne Fenech so had a birds eye view. It looked way worse where I was.

For the record my car ran a PB of 7.77 @ 88mph. It's broke but i'm stoked.....😂

Can I also add a special thanks to Daimo for the bits he sent, Henry for his words of wisdom and offer to test my MSD and to all the other guys who I spoke with and raced. Rod how about a discount on some forged 87mm pistons😁

Also to Craig from VWMA and the track guys at Warwick who did a great job in trying to keep a track raceable under very trying conditions.

and to the Warwick police......please use my $200 wisely.....😀

typethreeking ·

hey stanley, what happened, pistons again??? Did you buy a ticket to the policemens ball at the driver drink stop on the highway in the 60kph zone, i got a pb mph at 88.5

Stanley ·

I had to drive it off the trailer so my lovely wife of 25 years the weekend just passed, doesn't think she is still a shed widow.
However when it arived in the shed I had vapour coming out of the breather so i'd say I am in need of new pistons. Was anyone surprised. Time for some forged or SR20 pistons.

and I made a donation Sunday morning after coming over the range and finding it was sunny. Worse thing was there were signs saying "Police radars patrol this area". I can now tell you it's not false advertising......😁

Great pics everyone.

Well what a weekend.

Thanks to Craig and Warwick Dragway;

After a huge push to get Tony's engine built in his mat black Manx and the Hillbilly Racer back for another reincarnation, we made it Saturday morning, a day later than planned. Both cars ran well all weekend, here's a sample composition vid from a mate that was at the track Sat. The last shot is Tony's manx that had the new engine built this last week and fitted thursday for initial start/break-in, and now it's run in😂 . The 2276 ran strong all weekend with consistant low 8's at over 80mph.

More later

66BTL ·

Was a great weekend big thank you to Craig and every one involved .
Glad the weather held out on sunday , will be there again next year think its about time we did some engine work
the little 1300 took a beating but it just kept going .

Hi,

I would to thank Craig and crew for another great weekend. The effort is much appreciated.

Slight breakage to car, but still smlin`.

Regards, Keith

sauron ·

Thanks Al for the kind words and the video, unfortunatly on that run Andrew in the grey 56 broke the crank shaft.
We all got home safe late last night but from Goondawindi
to Narrabri the weather was just awfull, so much rain.
Thanks to Craig and the Warwick crew for a great weekend under trying conditions.
Hope to see everyone at Portland. Michael

right rear guard , right rear rim & tyre , right front rim & tyre , front beam assembly , fibreglass one piece front-end , right rear trailing arm , right outer CV joint .

We found that Bens car had a broken right outer kombi Cv joint and suspect that this may have broken on his 1st to 2nd gear change , sending the WPVW drag bug into the wall (not a track grip issue as most people thought)

Ben is Ok and we are keen to repair his bug and have him back on the track ASAP .

cjbolt051 ·

Had a ball this year, many thanks to Craig, the staff at Warwick dragway, all the other competitors, and my good friends and crew at W.P.V.W. Looking forward to getting the vee set up a little better for next year. But i was stocked at my et of 7.1 @ 103.45mph hope all got home safely ...Chris

nbturbo ·

Just arrived home myself-what a great time and a well run event.Big congrats to the local people for running such a smooth event with all the weather dramas. Was good to catch up with the Melbourne gang and got some good info from some new contacts.Guess I will have to get to Portland. Here's hoping Rod will have the new "Beast" finished.

BeetleJuice ·

Congrats to all that ran! Bugger about the damage to the Ben's!

Did Michael Nash get to run? If so, did anyone get any footage?

matberry ·

Nasty did a burnout then later another with a low power pass, a bit of a moment at the line. Going to be one heck of a car.❗❗❗

vassy66T1 ·

Michael did a skid and then a little later a skid and a launch. I would assume someone might have a vid but I didn't. (what Matt said ... a minute before me)

i loved catching up with everyone, and if i didn't get the chance to say hi.don't worry there is alway's next time.

peolpe make the event what it is and thank's to graig/sponsor's and the warwick drag strip crew as well as all you crazy vw people that entered and watched or enjoy the event.thank you,and come again.

A big Thank you to Craig and VWMA for organising another great weekend. A lot of time and energy goes into organising these types of events and we really appreciate your effort Craig.

Also a big thanks to the Warwick Drag Club and all their staff. They worked tirelessly on Saturday through the rain intervals to keep the cars on the track and Sunday they didn't stop to make sure the event ran through to completion.

Well done to all the competitors for getting out there. These events will only continue through support and participation. It would be great to see the same sort of numbers supporting the Portland event.

Thanks to all the CBB crew who helped me throughout the weekend. I cant race without assistance and your help, enthusiasm and friendship means a great deal to me, especially when i was driving like a Grandma (thanks for the video Al - DasDubber).

Looking forward to hitting the track again soon and seeing everyone at Portland.

Darren

westi ·

you got that old lady thing right.just kidding.
i wouldn't say old lady ,i would have said nervous old man.lol.
i would honestly say smart man,not everyone cares about there car, or can understand's how much work goes into them.
so if driving carefully until you get used to the car,is your way off doing thing's,so be it.don't get pressured into driving it harder than you are ready too.

as most peolpe can tell i have little regards for my car and am looking for a good excuse to build my dream car, untill then i will just have to keep betting all you turbo and supergharged boy's with my little smokey 2386 aspo legend.

over and out from little smokey.
p.s
thank's for posting up more vid's.hellbugged
the thing i love about the vid's that everyone post's,is the commentry in the background and emotional responses.
it sound's like the people were just as stoked as i was.

^^^^

x 2 Westi, good comments mate, very true on all accounts, even from you (Old Smokey)!!!!!

Super1302 ·

what happened to the rotary kombi

PartyHatCentral ·

Yes, congrats to everyone involved that made this a great event, with plenty of entrants, spectators and close racing. I think Sunday's racing made up for a soggy Saturday in the pits. Thanks also to Daniel 'jedidan' for his camera prowess - we played games with an in-car camera this year for a bit of fun, here are the links:

I think the Fastest 8 final has already been posted.

hellbugged ·

yeah i just realized houndog was not there either and Ross hasn't posted in a while?

11CAB ·

Well this year was my first attempt at Drag Racing and I had a ball. I shared the driving with Andrew in the Rat Racer. I managed 3 wins from the 4 runs of racing on sunday.
I'll definately be back to race again next year

Super1302 ·

some great vids and pics🙅 what happened to aaron robert 20b turbo kombi

Hey Frosty, I think I got you on one run..... Was good to have a couple of rats running together 🙂

hypo-vw ·

We have disected as much video footage as we can of Bens crash and have confirmed that the supercharged drag beetle had broken a right outer CV joint on his 1st / 2nd gear change , sending him into a hard right turn into the wall .
It is evident in the 1st pic that Ben has jumped on the brakes before hitting the wall and the right rear wheel has locked and shows tyre smoke . There is no tyre smoke from the left rear tyre . Also 1 black wheel spin line on the strip surface . The only way this is possible with the welded diff assembly is to have had a drive-train breakage that allows one wheel to stop turning . We can also confirm that the right outer CV joint is broken .
The other pics show that you just become a passenger in a situation like this , just like riding a bronco .....

hypo-vw ·

video of Chris Bolton in the WPVW turbo vee running against Dusty .
Chris made a best pass of 7.1sec @ 103.45mph .... outstanding mate !!

Stanley ·

It was a shame to see Ben go out the way he did. But on a good note considering the blower was producing such low boost it sounded awesome and looked like it would have cut a good time.

Hopefully this hiccup will only spur Ben on.

half of the forum members had to go to this year??(or was that last year,or the year before,or?????????)
what? me having a shot

matberry ·

Thanks for the vid of the Hillbilly racer Wayne.

Excusses excusses but that pass the throttle cable had slipped in the burnout and so I ran with only partial throttle for the lose, still managed 83mph for the chase.

Welcome back to here Dave, shame about your crap weekend mate, but at least your car benifited from the big push to just get there. Now it is a car and what a piece of art....absolutely beautiful. Total credit to you and your helpers. When are you going to have a shake down?

Oh, and

Don't forget the spare blower belt. 😂 😂

Well done VictoriaBelle ... I admire anyone who gets out and has a go ... I too started racing many years ago with a 1600 beetle , and slowly progressed from there .
Your video is nothing to laugh at ..... be proud of it , and hope to see you at Warwick racing again next year .

I think Chris Bolton needs to calm down.... he is already way too excited about running his vee in the open class at next years Warwick drag event

Dave Stoker had spoken to Roger (Heads Up) in regards to the new paint scheme. Roger was ok about the colour scheme being used out here. Its not exactly the same as rogers version there are some slight differences but they are subtle.

Dak-A-Tak ·

How about sum pics of Stoker's car for everyone to see , as he didn't put it in the show or have it out of tent for everyone to see .
Yes , cool paint for a OLD GUY ! so is Roger too .😘

blue vizion ·

Dave's box brownie camera wasn't working either!
There have been changes since Warwick (already) and its looking good for the Nostalgia Drags at Sydney on the 21st November.
I will get some good photos then!

The bear wasn't happy stuck in the cave all weekend!

apart from the first one against wpvw
i think we have some adjusting to do
i'll call ya maybe we can get started this weekend
the creeks calling
cant wait to get back racing dude

stoker ·

fast68,fyi in may this year me and my finance director went to headsup to sling shit with rodger for a few days, when she after seeing the prostock car in the workshop put it straight on him to buy it on the spot. this went on for 5 days but the old guy wants to race it again with him driving this time ?? As a compromise she said we will paint our car the same colour scheme if thats ok,The reply was typical crawford (oh, i dont care) and that was that,so fast68 it is not a f&%#@$ COPYCAT car,but a rendition of quote(the best looking race beetle ever built) and i have done it proud with alot of help from shane @darren (letterart signs @graphics),mike kristen (cbb) chris holland(interspray) bigh(aircooled developments) @mike waldren who worked his slot off every w/end for 5 mths to get the car where it is today I am not having a swipe or a sookup but i thing i need to put a few things straight on how this all came about and to say i am proud of what i ended up with is an understatment so from now on there no more (secret squirrel stuff)if there ever was any????????

that quote came from hotvw jan97 ,volksworld97

p.s john w i hope sat night was as fab for you as it was for me (gotya)??????????????????

Yep ...me too

Cheers Dave, to a beautiful build and good luck racing.

Dak-A-Tak ·

As Matt said !! Great Dave ! now where's the pic's ? ( Dave or anyone else)
Dave what was the problem with the belt ?
I think if quick 8 is openned up , is great or made a larger field too.
Maybe 2quick brackets then the 2 finalist race off for overall winner .

The 2 biggest problems for ME are : time for tuning or maintance between racing rounds ( race cars need work ) , and all cars must meet andra rules ( tech too) as meeting comes under Andra sanction . Plus I want to be safe beside racer and there safety to .

stoker ·

pete,if i knew how to load pics i would, remember you are dealing with a fossil ??
the belt problem was not enough tooth contact on the pulley,my stuffup so on to option 2.5 which was all done & dusted
the monday after warwick

essex ·

can anyone help Dave load some photos (I dont know how either!) i'd love to see some photos of this car, i'm obviously not on my own here.

HotRodMatt ·

Ryan? Where have you gone?

Dak-A-Tak ·

HotRodMatt any pics to share ? or anyone else ?
Dave , join photobucket web site or email them to me and I'll change the size .
carorama@bigpond.net.au

Stanley ·

From previous years I don't think Matt can release pics until after the next addition of VWMA. Mag has first dibs at pics.

HotRodMatt ·

I'll have previews available for racers soon when I get some time to upload.
Access details will be PM'd those who competed.

Dak-A-Tak ·

I didn't have much time to take action pics , so here are a few pit ones .
Did anyone get a pic of my car with the nitrous purge shooting up , purge pipe to large in dia at moment .
Nitrous wasn't working correct yet , have to look into it a bit deeper . I think rpm window switch wasn't set right .
Was shooting around 60hp but car was running ets of allmotor set up.
All so THANKS TO CREW and Family over week-end for being there and helping out .
