From handycam's awesome baja, its got me thinkin that spindles give such a great stance. But! factory thing spindles are not only hard to come by (as we all know), but are very expensive.
The states have aftermarket ones with 3'' lift for $225 a pair (excludes postage).
If i can recall, these are in no way street legal are they because they aren't from the factory aren't hey??(ie: as an option for the original vw type 1 pan that was on the vw thing)?
How do the guys go about fitting dropped spindles legally instead?
Do i just fit them after rego/the pits? Wats the chance of getting seriously busted?
regards,
Christopher.

"Thing" spindles aren't hard to come by.....you can get them for about US$300 landed if you ask the right people.....i got numerous sets last year from the States, one set only cost AU$250 landed and were in excellent condition....and included the camber adjusters....

Thanks for hte reply Mick. 👍
Wow! they are cheaper than i thought for genuines. At least i wouldn't have legal concerns etc.
The speedo cable goes into the same side for both rhd and lhd?
I saw some guy wanting $250 a side ($500 before shipping) and was like.... ahhh eeek lol.
I will just have to do some huntin 👍

I got some recently from the states on the Shoptalk forum. A few more dollars than the custom spindles, but you end up with a much stronger setup, as the lower b/j's are facing down which is much stronger, the arms are stronger too, and the stubs are factory VW....🙂, you can't loose.
The speedo is same as usual, LH stub.

Thanks Mat 👍
yea just saw that the trailing arms were different, i'd have to hunt down a set of them too. Eventually anyways...
