A great day was had on Sunday the 20th July when Herbie and other Gold Coast area Vee Dubbers Got together for a run through Springbrook, Numinbah and Murwulimbah in a similar fashion to Herbie rides Again with all the VWs following Herbie through the hills.
Now This all started unintentionally by a conversation through the "56 oval on Gold Coast" Post started By sleeper
Sleeper suggested we restart the Post Here in General chit chat where others might read it and join us for any future runs, So I have started this post and here I cut and paste a bit of the previous conversation.....
"lets get it started by choosing a date .... the last sunday of august will be the 31st if all agrees lets get that thread started"
So Who wants to do something similar again on the 31st of August?
We met out front of the Pacific fair Cinemas on the top floor in the carpark last time and I think thats a good central meeting point.
I am happy to organise a run, but I am also happy to hear other suggestions.
So Here it begins,

10 am seemed early enough to have a nice day and late enough for me to have a sleep after working late on Saturday nights.
So If everyone is happy we can make it 10 am Sunday 31st August in front of the cinemas top floor carpark Pacific Fair Broadbeach.
Maybee we could go to Purlingbrook falls for a BBQ, I will zip the bike up there beforehand to make sure its still suitable as I havent been there since I was a Kid.
If we have enough people interested in the future we can find a big flat area and hold a bit of a motorkhana or car game day where we blindfold the driver and get the passenger to navigate a course etc, there are some good days spent that way and its great to catch up and Meet each other. All on private property of course.
I also can make up a Navigation Run for everyone if they are keen for future days out.
I have tonnes of ideas having been part of a car club since before I could walk or talk but If you have a suggestion feel free to put it forward and we can include it in the future events.

I forgot to double check the previous posts Its meant to be 31st of August as the 31st of July is a thursday.
However we might have a cruise on Sunday the 10th August. otherwise we will be waiting 5 weeks.
I was having a chat with My dad today and he sugessted that we set a routine like the 2nd and last Sunday of each month.
A lot of people may be Dubbed out after Valla But I cant go to Valla {working the friday and Saturday nights and just to be sure........My brother is getting Married on the Sunday the 3rd} and I am sure I am not alone there.
So, who thinks the 10th August is the go for a cruise?

i think the variety club bash are leaving from sanctuary cove that weekend, always fun to watch all those cars leave, there's normally a band and the like playing

Well after giving my carbs a good clean getting new dizzy cap and rotor replacing all the plugs !

Just let us know what facilities are there....BBO, playground, if not will have to be picnic or cafe.

I will ride up to Purlingbrook falls in the next few days to check whats there,
But I believe there is BBQs and Toilets and maybe some swings.
I will check for sure and if its not suitable I have another spot in mind
But a BBQ does sound like a good day to me, I Dont think that there is a shop nearby
I will post a report as to whats there and what might be good to bring.

I proposed to my wife at purlingbrook falls and saw naked european backpackers swimming in the waterhole, so have fond memories of the place.
its a really nice walk down the creek.
there are shops near by.

Ok After a couple of hours of trying to start my GSXR1100 I admitted defeat at the hands of a collapsed battery.
So Herbie and I went for a drive, the long way round, over hinze dam and out to natural arch, the whole while, swearing blind that Purling brook falls was out that way somewhere, We eventually turned around and went back up the Springbrook Nerang road which was half way through being fixed,{you thought it was rough the other weekend!} Then we got to Springbrook Mudgeeraba road and turned right up the hill toward Hardys lookout.
We did soon enough find that all so familiar roadsign that had obviously been moved from where I had thought I last saw it,{Purlingbrook falls <- }
Who would do such a thing?
We finally got to the park, It had changed a lot from when I was younger but it looks better for the changes,
Like "Bugged Again" said, There is a shop just down the road, walking distance or so,from the BBQ area, There are about 4 One Dollar coin operated BBQs there and some shelter and quite a few picnic tables and seats. There are signs showing that Fueled fires are ok but not open fires so Gas BBQs would be ok if anyone wants to bring their own. There is water on tap, But it is signed as NOT DRINKING WATER unless it is boiled, perhaps its just fresh water and they take no responsibility for its use, so maybe bring some bottled water for drinking, especially if you want to go for a walk through the waterfall.{where I went Naked swimming in the hope that I meet some friendly naked european Backpackers}
It should make for a good day, its about 30 klms from the Pacific Highway, So fuel up and get on down to Pacific fair Cinema carpark at 10 am Sunday 31st August.

Today I recieved the new club letter from the Gold Coast Dub Club,
Guess what?
They are also doing a run on the 31st August,
They are going to O'reileys,
Which is about 30 klms up hill from Canungra.
Its not the same sort of day as far as I know, I dont recall there being any BBQs up there,
There is a skywalk which is pretty cool, where you walk up high in the trees on a man made walkway.
and a cafe, But the cafe is Quite expensive. I have been up there many times on the bike.
Seeing as this is a run for Gold Coast Vee Dubbers I thought I would ask, Is everybody Happy to stay with the BBQ idea at purlingbrook falls?
Or would they prefer a day at O'reileys?
I am happy to do either, The BBQ would most likely be less expensive for lunch than the cafe, but perhaps some of the local VEEDUBBERS would like a bigger gathering,
People with young children may prefer the laidback BBQ idea, I dont know.
So lets see a show of hands,
Shall we join the other VWs going to Oreillys or
keep with the Plans we have made?
We can always do either run another time time, no dramas.

Gave my suspension a right hammering.
Suppose my own fault for having front so low.
The last bit where ya drive through tress with the tarmac uneven as, did it for me.
So i'd be missing out if was going up there.....

O'riellys is also a nice trip, had a flat tyre there last time and had to change it as soon as it arrived. there doesn't seem to be any open space up there.

I am a member of the gold coast dub club and Bad little buggers too, but organised to do this idependently before I knew about their run,
I think a couple of people coming are from the club, but I know many of them are from klub VW
I will try to avoid doing runs on the same days as other local clubs as sometimes people may want to do both.
