Hi Guys,
I have been offered this engine for US$500, with
the current Aussie dollar seems like a good deal. However
how do I get it here, and how much is that going to cost.
Anybody have experience on importing from US. Any
tips etc gratefully accepted. He is throwing in twin 40IDF's as well!!!!
I do not need it really, just seems like a good deal & who knows what project is just around the corner..Do I pursue
or run away....Opinions welcome.
cheers
John

porsche 914 2.0 Liter GA case used running engine with compression as follows:
cyl #1 115psi #2 115 psi #3 113psi #4 115 psi comes complete with flywheel, distributor #009 with crane cams electronic ignition. all engine tin...
although i can not gaurantee this motor as i did not rebuild it. i can stand behind the compression values as i tested this myself. i also test fired it and it runns with no knocking and fired up quickly via poured gas into manifold. definately has had the case split when rebuilt. heads deffinatly have been done as my experience says those valve guides have been replaced and not too long ago..
the only thing i see that is needed and i will provide is new exhaust studs. i have the coorect studs with copper nuts.
i am selling this now as a usable used 2.0 ga motor.

took pictures of the exhaust side of the heads. when doing so i paid speacial attention to cylinders and they look bigger than stock 2.0 jugs.
i believe this is a 2056. i will verify soon. the crane cams ignition sold and comes with an electronic ignition.
let me know if you are interested.
thanks

Hi John, if your deal with rod doesn't work out, the best way to go about it would be to ship it over. It takes a while but is far cheaper than flying it ($400 vs $800). a friend of mine just shipped an engine over (including webbers, zorst etc) and were happy with the price and quality of the shipping. I could find the company thy used if you're interested? Also, there may be a issue with tax if the item (from memory) is over $800. To get around this you could get the seller to say on a receipt that the engine was less than 800?

It's over $1000, not $800.

I rang customs to confirm when I ordered some shocks from the US

Or you could just do the honest thing and pay whatever taxes are due...

I'm too poor to pay for a beetle project, let alone tax. Two jobs doesn't even cut it anymore 🥲

yeah well try living on a job that pays less than centrelink lol. Still manage to afford vw stuff 🙂

I am currently trying to get into a welding apprenticeship. Only problem is I may be too old? Will find out this week whats the go.
🥲 Hope it good news. I am really keen!
