Is your 63 bug pedal setup the same as my 61. As you can see at the bottom of the brake pedal (to the left of it) the coil of the spring. I ordered a new one, but a different spring arrived so yours may be different. Let us know and then we can advise better.

P.S. What area are you from, this will help if people are willing to come over and show you.

Hi
A bit fiddly to replace , but from memory the short end goes on the floor and the longer end goes to the pedal...

I saw a 1961 beetle in two tone on thursday in Newcastle...
didn't get a good look at it as We were going up into a car park and it was coming down..
was in good nick and had the original tail lamps also in good condition...

Your chassis looks awesome Kev...
don't forget to put rubbers on the brake and clutch pedals...
lol...
You can get them with VW on them in Australia...
Not in the USA... VWof america doesn't like their badge on anything over there.... lol

One way in which I have been able to fit that spring is to assemble all of the bits with the cluster not bolted down. Then put the straight part of the spring in its place on the floor just behind the cluster shaft, push the cluster down to the floor and then bolt it into place.
Just be careful that you don't disconnect the clutch cable end from the clutch pedal hook while moving the cluster around.
The accelerator pedal must be fitted as well as it cannot be fitted after the cluster is bolted down.
Alternatively trying to fit the spring onto the pedal after the cluster is bolted down, can be a bit of a hassle. It can be done either way.
