If your pic is over 1 megabyte, I'll bet it's either a .bmp or a very big .jpg at 100% quality.
Even half of that would be way too big!!! Ideally you should get your pics down to about 50 - 70kb size. Any bigger than this will take forever to load for people with modems (i.e. most of us). 馃槧
You can do this by:
1. reducing the dimensions to about 600 pixels wide (if it's landscape) or 500 pixels high (if it's portrait, so it can be seen without scrolling).
2. saving the image as a .jpg file with reduced quality: 20% quality usually still looks good and the file size is heaps smaller than if you used 100%.
