Just adjust it.
If you cant adjust it, check if the hinge pins are worn and recondition the hinges and go from there.

adjust the striker plate on the B piller
or as above
or worse the hinge broken off inside the door

You could just get new hinges, they aren't that expensive. Joel did a DIY on how to replace them.

Is there a VW shop in Victoria which stocks the parts - I know that VW used to make Beetles in Clayton.

I doubt you'll find anyone in aus selling new hinges but CIP in cali stock them, pretty cheap too.
