Hi these are the cars i have at the moment :
the beetle is a 1500 with now a bigger motor it is currently off the road for resto and a colour change.
the other is my latest a 63 notch , this car came from the factory with no chrome and unlike the bug i am not going to over accessorize it. .

Known the car for years, it was first purchased on May 6th 1968 at Ballard Motors Anaheim California. I found it looking pretty sad in the street next to where i lived a few years ago , amazing there are 4 Kgs in that block.I located the owner, came to an agreeable price purchased the car . When i got it home it wasnt running but have had a bit of a tinker and is tickin over nicely now. The car has full service history and an old photo taken in 68 when it was in the show room in the U.S.
Have now polished and detailed wheels too. 😊

Awesome 62 Notchie there mate. I like how you haven't gone nuts with accessorising. Some were meant to be kept neat, and this is definetely one of them.
I reckon a basic colour, either black or white.

what better to do when the missus is asleep to look at some real sweet rides . credit to you empi on your dubs some of the best looking dubs in oz . im still trying to work out what ive been thinkin all these yrs outta the vw dub scene , now ive got the taste again im hooked in a big way . cant beleive how a few yrs can make such a big difference in the australian vw scene . cant stop eyeballing the notch and ghai just as well the better half still asleep she would slap my face the way ive been looking them up and down .

If you get this car your going to have a real piece of motoring history
I once knew the guy who used to supply the rools of stainless steel to deloren his buisness also went to the wall not long after deloren folded they owed him heaps of money and he was promised payments but it was to late and the recievers moved in. He was telling me that the rolls of stainless steel that deloren had left over were brought and went off to Korea to a kitchen sink manfacturer (I want one of those sinks badly). The worst part is he was owed that much he could of taken 2-3 of the cars as payment but he needed to pay his suppliers so he passed up on the deal. 🙁

Put 145 Continental Smart Car tyres on the front made a massive diffrence to the steering. Also Red walled the tyres, will be lowering some more front and rear soon.

Having dramas with fitting dropped spindles , they use diffrent bearings, tie rod ends, balljoints rub on the inner lip of the wheel . hmmmm will persevere had a look at a mates beetle that has the same wheels and dropped spindles so it can be done

Ok have rebuilt the beam today its missing 1 half leaf, still is stupid low so i will have to put that half leaf in and see if it will raise it slightly .
1.Balljoint through a hole in the rim note the minimal clearance.

3.Overall happy with how low (still want it lower!!:P) next to lower the rear.

You need more room than that because the angle on the arms will change when they go up or down and you'll lose some of your rim on the edge

Finally got it going today, took alot of effort and alot of bad language but i got there in the end . Its got a heap more power than before as well :bounce . Any one have a decent extraction system and muffler let me know as it needs one BAD. (Several leaks)

Love that chocolate brown ghia, definately a nice colour!
The Escras do look a bit wierd on the KG, haven't seen them on one before.....its seems they really only suit beetles, squares and some kombi's, they don't look right on everything, and what ever they are on its needs to be slammed!!!
Look forward to seeing what you do with the KG anyway!

Repros are also available however are alloy and personally dont think they look as good, The wheels on the front of the Manx are 4 lug empi sprintstars 5.5 x 15, rears are 15x ?? alloy drag racing wheels found new in a local tyre/mag wheel store?!?!?

Had to help a bud with his car today (Fasty) was quite impressed with the result , Had an EPA noise warning in the mail the other day for my Nissan.... didnt realise that Police men's ears are rated to measure Db..... needless to say the car went thru compliance and 2 RWC in 2 different states and noone has mentioned or complained about the exhaust.... The notch is now running like a dream so may have to pack a bag for Valla.

I have them in 4 stud also, what size are u looking 4? 4.5 or 5.5s??
Mo.... put the lowered spring plates in (jer fab 3 in drop) good on type ones as you can take the guards off to fit the wheel.... not on a KG!! (cant take guard off) could only fit a gasburner with a 135 on...

Love the GTIR. They have the best bonnet scoop, rear wing combo ever for a 90's car. They remind me of some of the crazyness of 80's group B rally styling. The kg is sweet also.

Unlocked the inner nerd last night, was give an incomplete model kit... so i decieded to paint it with what was on the shelf in the garage.

Love the car!!! looks perfect. out of interest, what air setup have your got exactly? it it just the air shocks? do the shocks just act as shocks or do they also act as the springs. i presume the latter because if you have the leaves in the beam and the car can go so much lower than the ride hieght then the air shocks must be also acting as springs. hope that makes sense.
sorry for the questions. i want to do something on my bus as i love the stance, but the ride is rock hard. i cant keep both stance and stock suspension as the tyres will bottomout on the arches. my compromise would be to higher the bus when driving slightly, to give a better ride.
