Even more fun than drag racing??? Not taking away anything from the drags but going from a few seconds to well over 5 minutes and adding braking and hanging on in corners is is a mind blowing difference. Wish I could get out there.

Do you have a deep sump on that car, you will need one with the extra grip.

I'm working on both of them, hopefully one will be there. I'm down to one driver as David has lost his licence for 3 months.
So if it all work out we will take the white one on Saturday and the orange one on Sunday. I want to get some miles on the orange one before I race it.

Steve, plenty of miles between sydney and goulburn. A lot more than there is between Wollongong and Oran Park. By the time I got to the top of Mt Ousley I was right to go I reckon. All the oily finger prints had burnt off the exhaust, thats how you can tell if its run in.

How does the car know whether its going forward or backwards anyway, couldnt tell the differance in Rods car last year went just as fast backwards as it did forwards,who needs treds anyway rocks just get stuck in them.I can help u run your L bug in Steve about 15minutes should do it cheers Rudi

14 entrants two weeks out from the event? Seems we have more forum racers than the real deal. By my count all the racer chat on AVD should have easily reached 50 VWs for this event by this late stage. I guess there's still a week to go to prove me right....

Only 14❓ What about all those who missed out last year [for various reasons], and said that they would not miss this year❓ There wouldn't be too many who had more to do to their car than I did........and I'm an old codger! My entry is in, and I want some Beetles to play with at Wakefield Park.👍

15, There's one I missed putting on there. I've had plenty of people email saying they want to go. Dont know why they arent showing up in the mailbox.
I guess Club VW will have to put up the swap meet entries to cover the loss.

🙁 yep i'm a no show this year.....so thats 2 entrys that would normally be a certanty
just not enough $$ around to get the race car there......... was super keen on running my beetle as the alternative but sadly the panel man has not pulled through in time for that either.
sorry Chris and co. I would reccomend it to anyone thinking about it still, great value for money and well run event, a credit to those who do all the hard work to set it up
certainly hope the numbers come up and the event can continue in future years, and yes Fraser, you are always welcome to an arvo run in what ever car i'm there with.......

Pretty sure some guys on the VWwatercooled forum with Golfs said they have entered.
I have 3 events on the go at this point so its possible I have lost someone or have them in the wrong event. I dont think so, but its a possibility.
Will let them know asap.

We're up to 44 entries now. Only a couple short of where I would like to be. BUT, the bleeding hearts at Club VW are forcing me to extend the early entry period. So.... even though from tomorrow its technically a late entry, I'm still accepting $170.
I can tell you that there isnt any chance of getting it on Sunday though. Be nice to me, get them in asap.

Figured out how you are going to make race numbers? (If you havent nominated a preferred number then you'll be forced to take what I randomly allocate)
How are you going to take car of "secondary bonnet restraint"?
One thing I havent mentioned previously is that your headlights will need to be taped. Use clear contact book covering or even just buy a roll of that 2inch wide clear sticky tape.
There's a few people I have a paypal or direct debit receipt for but no entry form. I'm assuming its in the mail, but if you havent sent one, please do.

Yeah, maybe we need to give first timer females a hefty discount next year to get more participation.
Its a plan I have for Huntley Hillclimb in February 2012 if you are interested. Femmes and under 25yrs males. They'll still have to fork out for club membership and licences but entry fee probably free.

48 IDA sound track all the way from Sydney's northern beaches. I cheat with ear bud headphones connected to my iPod. They block out some of the noise. I need my weber fix.

48s good. Front oil cooler went splat on start up due to cold weather thick oil and probably thick car owner. Then the clutch throwout bearing started making a horrendous noise in the scrutineering line. I didn't race. I nursed the car home using the clutch as little as possible.
Shopping list. Oil thermostat, throwout bearing, sense of homour...
