HI

Are Highway Police people Less friendly Now , than when they Did NOT have video cameras in their cars..???

I believe Police officers [highway patrol cars] are now Less friendly than before as they are being scrutinised on the video later on by superior officers...??

You used to be able to talk to them before....
and have a conversation...

but as its all taped... ? YIKES....

last time I was pulled over for a random breath test...
in daylight in the main street of Scone...
I asked him did he think that old beetle drivers drank..??
[old beetles or old drivers..??? lol

He said that its just purely Random....

I think He was just sitting there..
waiting... as they do...

as saw nice silver beetle driving past.. lol

if it was random... what about ALL the other GMH FORD Nissan Mitsubishis Suzuki Toyotas etc..??

and I know I wasn't in a line of beetles... and He picked Me out... lol

PS: No police have been injured in this POLL.... Lee

if you mean by able to be persauded... then absolutely. but yeah i think their demeanour is very different now.

68AutoBug ·

I remember being pulled over at random breath testing on the HIGHWAY at Singleton where the policeman who walked behind My beetle asked Me if I had a thunderbird Muffler? and that He had a beetle...

but quickly stopped talking when a Highway Patrol officer came to ask me to talk into the breath tester...

I will have to try to get the H/P officer to talk to Me next time...
tell some jokes etc...

I noticed when Police were setting up a random breath test on the highway out of Muswellbrook yesterday that when You got down the road, they were in a dip in the road and couldn't be seen... lol

Do You find the Police Officers Less friendly Now ??

Bloody coppers 😂😂😂😂

Lee, I am under the belief that the video's are not meant to be viewed by their senior management unless there is an issue raised (complaint) or if they want to confirm some particular details for a charge etc or to use it in court to confirm or deny allegations.

The (ICV) In Car Video is not a tool for Supervisors to check on (their staff) persons working within their command.

Kev

P.S. There is nothing more X, than an X (TJF).

Stinkbug ·

no, theyll doctor the footage ,chop n swap it round, use the bits they want ,to try n bend you over in the court room. just like they do with the pocket dictaphone .say nothing much and just smile. make sure you have plenty of money for good legal reprasentation.some police officers can be extremely dishonest.just my 2 cents worth.

68AutoBug ·

I KNEW YOU WOULD RESPOND KEV... 😂

I think You are correct Kev...
as I remember My nephew telling Me about a police officer speeding home from an accident in a Highway Patrol car and the officer [HP] whose car it was went thru the videos and found the tape... and was going to persue the issue ???

so, it seems maybe the videos have NO effect Kev... lol

I just remembered when I was booked for speeding down to the nationals last year that I asked the officer what he was doing that early in the morning in the middle of nowhere...
[on the Putty road]
He said He was waiting for the motor cycles to arrive...
[as the bikies love the winding road] lol

cheers

Cops LIE!
They can use video but they can (and have) 'relinquished possession' from the public as they deem it to be an invasion of privacy.
I know from personal experience as I was video taping a mate getting harassed by them just because he was pissed and they took my camera. There was NO reason to arrest him,but as he resisted with numerous questions as to why he was being arrested, they just got nasty and threw him on the ground and cuffed him.I badly wanted to smack one of them.Fat prick
Its a boys and girls private club now,and if you aint a cop,you are sub human in my opinion.
One rule for them, one for us.Never trust a cop

I am an ex-cop and I agree with the above comments, to a degree. Myself and a few others I worked with had a complaint made from another copper and it was full of lies (bullshit) from him. Bit who are the ones that get in trouble and have their personal lives effected by lies - the decent ones, whilst nothing happens to him re his lying (great system).

I wont go on about my issue as this topic is now about if cops lie and the short answer is, Yes. I will make it quite clear that I am only talking about a few out of the 15000+ coppers in NSW.

I have seen more lies internally about other police and senior police abusing/manipulating regulations to suit themselves, than I did when dealing with the public.

I don't believe that cops alter taps or video at all. you must also remember that these recording can also save them from false complaints that may ruin their lives, like when that Muslim woman lied about what happened. Lucky for the tapes and it was shown that she was lying and she went to jail, as she should have.

I could go on and on, but wont. Also dont think for one minute that all cops are honest and dont lie. They are still human.

Cant argue with that Camo, well said.

I have a girlfriend of mine thats a cop and told her about this thread. She basically said the same as you did.

Ive just had bad dealings with cops in the past, and I spose I have tarred them all with the same brush. A habit hard to break

Fair enough, there IS some good ones around, usually the older ones that don't have a point to prove or brag 'I'm a Police officer' crap.

What I said is a good answer you should give to any question from a police officer, if you don't want to be held liable for any answer. It is similar to the good old "No comment"

Well, I have a Son who hates COPS...

but I have found Most are great..
especially the ones in Scone over the years ...

have had run ins with police in another town but when spoke to the local police they said they were Wrong...

another incident .. My Son got booked for not stopping at a stop sign... two fines... [first drive of a nissan patrol and didn't come to a full stop on the line] also fined for going over the line.. ??
also asked at a local random breath test and they also said it was wrong for the police officer concerned to book Him twice

but it wasn't against the law...

ive never had a good experience with cops. even with partner and a baby in the car on easter sunday still had a one being a smart ass prick!!!!!!!! so my answere is no! they've allways been unfriendly, hard to get along with and generally unhelpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amazeer ·

The only time I talk to cops is counting to 5 in an rbt. Just let em do their job, they're not there to chat.

When I was a call centre operator chatty people drove me nuts. My call times were timed to the second. Dont have time to be friendly. Though on my last day I had a great chat to a lady about her effort to import a Mustang.

whathaveidone ·

all i did was count to 10 and answere his questions, it was what he asked and how he asked it

Luke ·

Hi. I'm a current serving police officer in excess of 23 years. Half that time in the HWP.

What are you guys really asking? Are there people in this world that are pricks. I know a lot. Most of them are not police though.

Are some police pricks. Yes. I have worked with some that are. What ever there problem is who knows but they would probably be a prick no matter what they did. I joined when I was 18. 12 weeks at the academy the sworn in at 19 so I don't really know much else. However it is not really like that now. Most people join after having worked in some other career.

Do people lie? Our prime minister lies all the time. Christ she is running our country.

Do some police lie. Yes. They are human. Of course they lie. Do they doctor the tapes. No. You can't. Do they make police more unfriendly. No they don't.

There is a lot of attention on the police. I have had been pulled up twice and was polite and did what I was asked and got cautions both times. They didn't know I was a police officer.
I have been driving for 25 years and going out to clubs and pubs and socializing for the same time in other towns and states then where I live. I have never had ANY dealings with the police. Why do the same people always seem to come under the attention of police? It must be the police fault that they get picked on all the time. Surely. Right?

I think people just need to relax a bit. There isn't a big conspiracy to go out and wreck peoples lives. Most police just want to lock up the crooks so we can live a safe and normal life in a civilized country.
I can tell you right now, I would rather live here and have our system with a few areshole cops then any other country in the world.

😉😉😉

beetleboyjeff ·

Well said Luke. I am not a copper or anything, and have been pulled up a number of times, and find if you treat police the same as you would treat anyone doing their job, you usually won't have any problem.

I find some police are quite friendly to deal with, a lot are pleasant and profesional, and a few are hard to get on with - the same as people in any job really.

I should also point out that out of the times I have been pulled over, some have been RBT, and some have been traffic offences. I have been booked a number of times, but having said that, I have never been booked for something that I didn't do, even thoug every time I didn't realise I was doing anything wrong. This is not the fault of the Police, but the fault of the laws and the system. You only need to miss a speed sign, or watch traffic instead of your speedo for a few seconds, and you can be nabbed.

I reckon luck plays a big part.

Admittedly, the officer could let you go, but where does he draw the line? He doesn't know if you have just made a small mistake or are a habitual offender. I reckon the last thing he would want is to give someone the benefit of the doubt, then have to go to some horrific accident minutes later with the driver involved. In his few minutes with you, her can really only look at the facts.

From my experience, I don't think police in general have changed from trying to do their job as well as they can.
