Next job. Fuel pump.

What are the specs on the new engine Craig?
Didn't you do that fuel system a few years ago?
How about some new stuff!
OZ Towdster ·

HI Dave
I did the fuel line a couple of yrs ago, but wasn't happy where it went in the tunnel. So I did it again. Fits in there nice now.
Engine is Stage 1 Rich/Pob & has Richards Cam, stage 2 heads with comp at 10.6ish. We're running optimax fuel, hence the somewhat low comp.Comp is still higher than the previous incarnation however.

Yep, I too remember watching this run out at Willowbank.....

Ya smart arse...It'll take me all winter to do that!😂
beetleboyjeff ·
Better hurry up before the world runs out of fossil fuels. 🙂
BeetleJuice ·
Have to go over my wiring to find an extra wire to use. The Auto electrician didn't wire up Pro control properly, hence why it never worked previously. Unit has returned from Rocket Industries after testing with the all clear.
Have ordered my new MSD leads and need to manufacture some brackets for the extra plugs.
BeetleJuice ·
Will have to make up the leads when they're in the car.
CSP linkage is on too. they are very nice!
Finally got to get the exhaust on too.
Back to hibernation!🥲
Aussie Dubbin ·
Sweet ride man. What webers are theey? 48s?
sander288 ·
what sort of manifolds are they?
are they the Udo Becker ones CSP sells?
BeetleJuice ·
Aussie Dubbin wrote:Sweet ride man. What webers are theey? 48s?

Berg Short.

Finally!

I don't want to sound like a dead shit, but, what advantage do you have from running twin plugs on each cylinder?
What would the performance gains be?
BeetleJuice ·
This has been discussed at length before. Heaps of info and discussion as per below.
dangerous wrote:Hey Craig, make sure you separate them properly!
And dont let them get caught in the linkages after full throttle, like I did on the dyno!
That would've been fun!
Been spending some time on them to avoid just that.
BeetleJuice ·
hellbugged wrote:getting there Craig.....can't wait to here it goooooooo!
Thought I'd start to tackle my fuel system to get away from the leads. Professional Products regulator and Autometer fuel pressure gauge which will be attached with s/steel braided fuel line.
BeetleJuice ·
Working away with the leads. Have to wait for MSD straight ends from the states.
vw54 ·
Now THATS an OLD pic for sure
BeetleJuice ·
vw54 wrote:Now THATS an OLD pic for sure
Sure was!... '95 Something weird is happening, I've lost a picture and when I "Add Attachment", it doubles up.Also didn't mean to post that old pic.
BeetleJuice ·
Latest Engine pic. Ordered some MSD boots from JEGS as Rocket didn't have any in stock.
gerggl ·
Wow .. this is beautiful .... congrats awesome job!

Appreciate your comments!
Not much has happened over the past few weeks as I've been away on business.
Have got my fuel line & Pro flow fuel filter mounted above the gearbox. Got my braided lines for the webers half done just have to measure and get the fittings put on.

My latest weapon for Better Launches with less spin! I picked up 2mph in swing speed and 5 mph off the club face = Much more distance & far greater control!!
Great investment...Shot 2 under and won our clubs President Cup.😁
beetleboyjeff ·
So, are you saying you also have a Golf?
1916baja ·
😀 you should be using a stick! you told me you were not going to use any launch control!
Ollie ·
Thats a long gear knob!

Nice car!

Any updates Digby?
Craig Torrens ·
he's been polishing his dipstick 😂
BeetleJuice ·
Dipstick is now perfect!!!😂
Engine is up to the 1st oil change. But nothing will be happening again until I fix a couple of fuel leaks. One of them is the fuel pump.😬
davidr ·
i like it...🙂
BeetleJuice ·
Went out on the weekend for a cruise. Here's a vid of me taking it easy getting some K's on this thing....until I get my bigger valve springs in.
I still only have single springs in atm.
OZ Towdster ·
Well done Craig , sounds nice ,and nice quick revs in the upper end too !!!
Craig Torrens ·
its been a loooooooong time coming 😂......congrats on finally getting it running👍
dangerous ·
Good work Craig!
Is that the valve float on the video at 12 seconds?😂

😁
I've got to be careful..My rev limiter can only limit from 6,000RPM +.
5,000 RPM is more than enough for coming up the range. Don't want to go past that with singles.
BeetleJuice ·
Craig Torrens wrote:its been a loooooooong time coming 😂......congrats on finally getting it running👍
Feels good to be driving it again. Even had a Ricer guy give me the thumbs up when I cruised past his place!
hellbugged ·
👍
Sydney February???
Craig Torrens ·
any updates.......
BeetleJuice ·
After all my elecrical dramas, car stopped down flagstone creek with no mob ph coverage..that was interesting!🤪
Had my starter rebushed for nothing because I thought there was problems there.😬
Still didn't have rev limiter function because the sparky didn't wire the ruddy thing up correctly! It now functioning for the 1st time ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😬
I've had toggle switch malfunction, so one of those is gone and I have a purdy aircraft type fuel switch for the fuel pump now.
Bug is in the shed with the engine out for head torque, new springs and replace both engine & gearbox seals.
The joys of having a car sitting around for a while.
LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·
So it will definately be ready for Warwick then??
h ·
great work 👍
hope to see it getting some lead foot luvin at Warwick 😉
