VW National Show and Shine Photo Thread

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/90569/vw-national-show-and-shine-photo-thread

Craig S ·

Hi All,

The nationals today had a lot of great cars, so I figured that I'd start a thread for everyone to chuck their photos in. You'll spot that I've taken a lot of photos of the Hopkins cars, but that's because they were fantastic. I tried to get a few from each of the different types, but I'm afraid I'm more a Beetle and KG guy, so there's not too much of the others.

I hope you enjoy.

This one was for sale...

Craig S ·

This one had a HID headlights, the owner reckons the beam is fantastic.

Nice fat rubber here....

Craig S ·

CBB had this unfinished bus on display, and when you count the number of cylinders at the back, there are more than usual...

They also had an electric bug and an electric bus on display, here's the bug

Craig S ·

Craig S ·

I'm a sucker for a Type 34

Craig S ·

And now for the Hopkins Buses

Craig S ·

And the Hopkins KG

Craig S ·

And then there was the Hopkins Split

Craig S ·

This one was going for $11,000

Craig S ·

Judging by the number of photos I took, I was quite taken by this KG

Craig S ·

The shine on this one was fantastic

Craig S ·

This one looked neat, and can be yours for $30,000

Craig S ·

And finally, just to prove that I did look at some water cooled cars, here's a few of them....

kombee ·

Very nice photos, a perfect sunny day , one of the best nationals .-Thanks

RATAFIED ·

it was a cooooooool show you must of nearlly covered every car, there wasnt many rats this year ,also it looked like the number of entrants was down and once again there was a carpark full of nice cars

Congratulations Aussie_Mick on taking out the best modified up to 57 trophy. well deserved and couldn't go to a better car and one of the aussieveedubbers good guys

AUSSIE_MICK ·

Thanks Pal

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·

Good to see CBB keeping "it in the family" with the Porsche 6 and not a Suby/ Commodore transplant/ abortion or whatever you like to call it.

Angel eyes on the Beetle.. dam it somone has been reading my notes on how to do it LOL!!

Shame the split Beetle wasn't completely original. Car looks fantastic and I could even live with the Porsche rims as they do look the good on the car but the exhaust system is just a disgrace on a car of that quality....

vw54 ·

Thanks 4 the pics

I am too busy doing stuff to look at the cars

i did snap some pics and will put up soon

vassy66T1 ·

Thank you for taking the time to upload the pics for those of us to far away to make it. (not that far I know but not an hour or two either)
Much appreciated.

h ·

great shots thanks for that

Pollywaffle ·

Umm dude that aint no POS monza muffler, its a rare Abarth 25/36hp 50s/early 60s period accessory performance muffler.

They were the ducks nuts of mufflers for Porsche and VW of the era.

XXX-1.8T ·

anyone get any pics at the car park?

There were a few beauties there!

Nikos ·

I know I'm biased, but is it just me, or was that Hopkings Lowlight Ghia Cabrio the star of the show !!!?

I was shocked to see it there, I'm surprised it hasn't had more comments from the forum. It would have to be the best in Australia surely.

We ( I ), can only dream.

Cheers,

Nick.

Regarding the exhaust on the splitty, I know nothing about exhausts, but from what I've seen, know the Hopkins crew aren't ones to cut corners.

I'm no expert but isn't that exhaust an abarth style exhaust used on Okrasa kits back in the day. To me it fits perfectly with the speed accessories on the car. Beautifull car regardless

HotRodMatt ·

So who is up for taking a couple of cars to lead around at a dog show?

silverra23 ·

I reckon all the good cars have been covered.. here is some others I liked.

Yes its a fatty.. but it looked tough

Chubby had some nice pinstriping..

do we get paid?

🙂

68Volkaru ·

Here is a couple of the interior of the 56.

Sweet sweet car. 👍

68Volkaru ·

Okaaaaay.... So the attachment never loaded.

I will work on a solution and get back to you. 😬😂🤪

badkarmann ·

had a great day there my karmann didnt want to go again pulled apart again and waiting on parts

68Volkaru ·

Mmmmmm... Having some issues... Attempt number 5

buzzbug ·

Does anyone here know who owns CHUBBY and are they on the board?
Would love to find out some more info on it.

t_tuffnut ·

That blue karmann was one of the best I've ever seen. The rims and that roof rack were perfect additions.

Was the roof rack a custom job? I've never seen anything like it before.

Great day out and thanks again to the people who organised it. Maybe one year soon my car will be in a state to tackle the grueling 1.5hr drive to make it there!

AUSSIE_MICK ·

Boris at Vintage Vee Dub Supplies in Sydney has them, Vintage Speed in Taiwan manufactures them.

That was one of the nicest interiors that I saw as well.

68Volkaru ·

I too am after the 'Chubby' owner (that does not read well does it 🙅 😂 ), as I forget to get some details of his pinstriper off him.... anyone know him?

N

miikeboyle ·

68AutoBug ·

Thanks for the pics

I know I'am flogging a dead horse here,
But how does the Blue Gia qualify for Historic Rego?
Lowered, Narrowed beam etc.
The rule states standard with peroid accessories & safety modifcations(brakes seat belts) permitted. The club of which the car belongs should know this & not allow it.
This is one more display of the scheme being abused and will lead to the schemeeventually being canned by the RTA as they want the $$ and didn't want the system in the first place.

t1 time ·

Id say he joined a club to get the rego with the car stock, and then modified it and the club have never seen him again, althought thay get a membership paymant every year.

DubbyFan ·

Thanks for all the great pic's, really good
for those who can't get to such gigs.

Very grateful, wonderful cars!

Luke ·

Man. Only new to the game and would have loved to have gone. Some of the pics aren't loading for me only getting all the slammed and modified cars. Were there any stock cars?

robb ·

keep trying lots of stock cars as well

Ollie ·

Alrighty, better late than never!
Tried to post up some more 'shopped' pics as I'm sure people have seen all the cars!
PM me if you want original/shopped version!

Cheers,
Ollie
