Warwick 2011

Bug_racer ·

I cant believe we are less than 4 months out and still no thread !
Thought Id start one just in case you guys forgot .

Im hoping to take 2 cars this year , if , I can get some transport up for one of the cars . So , is there any interest this year to hire a truck and bring cars up ?

Dave B , will your new set-up be ready for testing at Warwick ?
Trent , you still bringing both cars up ?
Rod - Will your car be finished ?
Everyone else - whats the status of your build ???

Questions for the weekend are :
Will there be a 5 second pass from one of the heavy hitters
Can a watercooled car crack the 7 second mark
Who has the quickest street car 😀

rose ·

I'll be there racing can't wait how about you?

It would have to be Aaron's Black bus.

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·

Questions for the weekend are :
Will there be a 5 second pass from one of the heavy hitters - If one of the CBB crew have a nice clean run, Boys from Volkommen Art or if Trent makes it there?

Can a watercooled car crack the 7 second mark - If Guy Harding brings his New Golf R then that is quite easily achievable especially if it makes the HP he hopes it will!! (approx 600hp at the flywheel)

Who has the quickest street car - If Aaron gets a clean run then he'd have to be odds on favourite?

I just hope the weather is fine all weekend so we get good track conditions and heaps of incident free racing!!

RISKY4LIFE ·

yeah it's coming around fast
i have a lot to do but it wount take much to beat last year performance LMAO 😵‍💫
car's like rod's should not be rushed but it would be great to see it there
i think daves new combo will be running no probs
i hope the last week will not be 16hr days again 🙁

Stanley ·

I really don't want to think about it at the moment....😵‍💫

whathaveidone ·

So mush to do before then. Fibreglass, paint, put the car back together!!!!!!! WHATHAVEIDONE!!!!!!!!

1916baja ·

Almost the same as it was a month ago.... A friggin long way from being a race car! But it will be done! will be posting an update after this weekend. should be very close to being a roller. Oh thats right, you just cut your front end off! the things we do hey?? So the rat is finally getting a coat of paint???

LOL Big claims without proof! My R32 with 500hp has run a 11.8@120 mph. I haven't seen any of Guy's cars run anywhere near that, So how can you say he has the fastest street Golf?

You talking the Quarter there bud or the 1/8th. Warwick is only 1/8th so for Guys car to get what Life In The Low lane suggest wouldn't be much of an issue for him i don't think???

That is an excellent performance, good work!

I dont think Brenndann was refering to outright fastest in the country,
or even mentioned "street water cooled VW"!

.... just who might be in the 7's at Warwick , water cooled VW.
If you race at Warwick you can be the fastest water cooled VW there.

stoker ·

shit harry, you had to go and mention 5 sec pass, but its good of you to put up $200.00 for the first to get there and we will gladly accept it MATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And your making a big claim by saying yours is a street car too !
Anyone can run a pass in their hometown , but it takes a true street car to drive some 800kms , race and then drive back home !

Could ! You dont know whats brewing in other workshops 🤖

vw54 ·

a 5 sec pass now that would be good

grinderman ·

At the opposite end of the scale I,m hoping to be there with 'team china' after a 2 year absence. There's only one problem....... the datsun powered squareback was COMPLETELY submerged in my backyard during the january floods!!!!!🙁 What are the chances of getting it going again? I spose I'll start by draining all the fluids and taking the carby off and giving everthing a good clean. Dont know, thank god there's no computers in the thing.....hoping for low 10s lol

I've done 50,000k's on this turbo setup you goose! Drivin the car to wakefield many times and WSID and never had any problems.. I know who you are and I'am sure you know this car! Don't be a smart ass!
My HPA 500hp R32 has more than proved it's self. I've never seen or heard about anything you have built Seb.
I'm coming, But now my car has a R36 TT engine with 650hp.. But i'm sure your S3 is a better daily driver... LOL

I dunno how many k's youve done , or what stage your up to with the car . I havent seen you post much on any forum in a while and Im suprised you even found this forum ! I know you were meant to be getting a Scirroco , I thought that that car was getting the R36 TT engine ? Either way Im always happy to hear of any times you post , and also happy to come along and watch when you run ! BTW Lucas's 11.7 still stands as the fastest watercooled VAG car in Aus , Im sure you can beat that time now with the R36 engine 😎 .
As for my achievements , well , a lot of stuff I did in the past and Ive had a bit of financial pressure you could call it , from a past relationship placed on me thats made finishing any viable project very hard ! Although it doesnt mean Im done and dusted , just taken extended leave from my own projects 🤪 . As for the S3 , its been unregoed since 2008 , due to those reasons .
Would be good to see you come up to Warwick , its a good atmosphere , great people , good fun , no real pressure and heaps of time can be spent on the track . Bring your wife and kids , grab a tent and join the party !

OK 😍 chill peeps
now the real Q & A is what carbys are you running on the datsun donk? LMAO low 10 seems good for a squareback running a l20 ??

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·

Apmitchell74 I have seen the pics and heard of your car but never read about how fast or how much hp it makes. Sorry to strike a nerve with you but nowhere did I say that Guy's car was the quickest in Australia or made the most hp!! Please read the post before firing up your fingers on the keyboard with a response that wasnt really called for. Yes Guy has been asked to come to Warwick but it clashes with an event held by the Porsche club each year. Warwick/Portland has always been attended very poorly by the water cooled community so if someone like yourself with the sort of car you do have(which I do like very much!!) it may be the catalyst to get others involved in a great weekend of racing.

Cheers 🙂

Sorry Brenden don't see how my post was offensive. I was just asking were the proof was for those claims. To many people post false numbers etc on the forum.. That's all.
See you all at warwick.

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·

Well I guess if the car Guy is building is finished in time for Dyno Mania then the proof will be there for all to see!!

Look forward to seeing your car in the flesh!!

westi ·

Hey stoker I got a better chance of running a 5 second pass than u buddy.it's nos time buddy.
I love stirring the pot.hahahahahha.
I look forward to finally winning a drag meeting.
Who's the odd's on favourite and what's it paying.

westi ·

3 finals from 3 meetings.
Gota win 1 sooner or later.

LOWBUG ·

Hay westi I take it you fixed the oil leak then.

westi ·

Haven't touch the car yet.
Oil leak is still there.it doesn't leak unless it running.hahah.
Bit off tape and some rag's she'll be right mate.

The datto is an all stock 1800 but I'd love to put a big cam and twin sidedrafts......I'd be well into the 9s then......but then I'd probably break something

LOWBUG ·

Maybe a little permatex will help seal it up.

westi ·

permatex is only good for small tolerances,i use h&d product's to keep my engine together.maybe you guy's should try it.

matberry ·

Aww Westi, don't know about that !! Looks like those h&d products weren't working too well at 2010 Warwick.😂😂

westi ·

hopes and dreams mate.
it's a free product.anyone can have it.

LOWBUG ·

mmmm.....747

stoker ·

westi, the only way for you to run a 5 is ???

1. comb your hair (scruffy turd)

2. N.O.S. is supposed to be sniffed by the engine ,not by the driver but thats going down a whole new path

3. you need a set of nads, so your out of the race buddy

also D.B hasnt bit on the $200.00 dollar deal. maybe he is into pauter porn at the moment

westi ·

And there it is you old chesnut.hook line and sinker. I love fishing.
1. Hair cut. Atleast I got some buddy.
2. There is no rule that states you can't have a bottle for each. Car and driver.
3. As for not having nads. Who said I was Gona be driving.
I was Gona ask mike'.cause let's face it ,you are either gona torch a head or forget the spare belt anyway. So you won't be needing him.
Hahahahahahhahahahahahah.

I'll bite.
Can't recall the offer,
but if you can run a five, I will give you $500.
That goes for any VW body with doors.
Fastest 5 of the week end.
Hows that Pops?!

ian.mezz ·

good to see a bit of banter to get things interesting😂

matberry ·

😂😂😂

Westi gives new meaning to 2 stage nos.🤓😂🤪

How about putting up a pot.....1st 5 by a Dub with doors takes it.

blue vizion ·

I'll get the skirt out again for you Mr Stoker if you crack the 5s!
(I won't be shaving though...it's too cold at Warwick!!

stoker ·

harry,no cheques ,cash only because i know what drag racers are like???

little johny,i told you NOT to mention the skirt thing, mat berry will be sniffing around the tent all f#%@& night???

westi, 3hrs to bite back, you must have been on the hand trolly AGAIN this morning. this is like tuna fishing, dont need much bait do i.

STOCK ·

Alright time for stock to cast a line
Hey dave first question how many crew members does it take to
Make a final at a meeting I know you can't answer yet but when
you do take a head count and let us know

Paulc1964au ·

What weekend is it?

LOWBUG ·

Hey John if your going to wear a skirt make sure you got something on undernieth it.

rose ·

I prefer Bottles of Vodka Cruisers myself.
And I wear a skirt so can I race?
I have a 5 sec car when I'm asleep😂😂

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE ·

First one to run a five sec pass hey?? Does it have to have the same rules as ANDRA with backing it up within 10% for it to count??

In that case it won't happen cause there is usually a breakage or some form of meltdown by either driver or car LOL

Westi you'd stand a chance of doing it buddy so long as you don't have to do it in a final to win hahaha

westi ·

Yeh yeh . Everyones a comedian.
I really should actually start buy opening the the garage door to check over the car before i started throwing to much shit at everyone else.
Agh f--- it.she'll be right .and I like hangin shot on people anyway.
My guess for the finall.
Me and dangerous for the final.rematch for the one I missed last time.
I really better start looking at my car.dangerous looks like he has been on a mission with the engine lately.I am going to need nos to keep up with him.

matberry ·

Westi, maybe you should take a leaf from Rose's book and wear a skirt AND go to sleep.....on the line for that 5. 😂

stoker ·

stock, sorry mate but i didnt quite catch your race number??????????????????

STOCK ·

its 4891 buddy
just look for the black & pink (prodly sponsered by h&d products)
ask mike he knows what the back of the car looks like anyway
i gotta go & grab my fishing net

obviously we're talking about brads car
i may not own the car
but the fact i have been building the car with brad and crewing for the last 4 odd years might give me some slight amount of a right to make a comment

Does donating blood to the car's build count as partly taking some form of ownership of it?? If that's the case then Stock owns most of it LOL

hey lowbug
i think my previous quote pretty much explains what the f**** im talking about
i dont know how you guys over there work mate but with us
the cred doesnt just go to the owner of the car theres alot of other people who are involved putting there time effort and love in.

i'm sure this is the case with alot of your cars too
but if it makes you feel good about yourself and better than other people by taking all the cred yourself good for you
i don,t know were a little different over here ,

westi ·

buy the sound's of the tone.from low bug.
i would say if you don't own a car. that actually exist.4891.mine.you can help or work on it ,and have a say on what and how it get's put together, but you have no cred.
what's doing there.
so are you calling mike waldron a bananna.because dave own's the car.
so if mike isn't a bannana.then neither is stock .pretty simple.
if you still think stock has no cred.
i can fix that in 2 second's.car for sale $1 dollar.oop's sold.stock own's it now,and i am a bannana cause i only drive it.ahhahaahah.
jealousy cause the junka is gona beat you all.

was going to start preparation for Warwick this weekend on my turbo oval , however I will have to put it off till next week as todays job is to resurect my office and showroom after a break-in on tuesday night .
The pricks broke in and trashed the place . Most damage was in the office and not the showroom . "They were obviously after money" the police said , as they busted open the till , stole a small float , removed pictures from the walls looking for a safe , removed the man-hole to check for money in the ceiling , up-end lounges in the waiting room , opened video cases , emptyed filing cabinets .
To their credit , they didnt smash display cases or trophys or damage any VW memrobeilia . They also didnt steel any stock .
The Police said " they did 5 break-ins that night at various locations around the area and have been caught on video surveilance "

She runs but wont be racing this year. Gearbox is very noisy and I dont want to be the person who makes a mess on the track and then has to try and get a car home on a trailer or tilt tray. Plus I head overseas this friday for a bit so funds will be a bit tight when I return so no chance of entering.....

Hi All,

Now that issue#31 has been put to bed, it's back onto drag racing matters.

Preparations for VW Warwick continue along smoothly. Always a popular start to the weekend, the Street Parade returns to the programme on Saturday morning, with the usual display of drag cars in the park. Tappet Cover racing is also on Saturday night after the driver and crew dinner. Robins Catering who put on the wonderful feast last year are back again, and there will be a guest speaker this year to talk about Australian drag racing and the VW scene in general. Racing on Sunday will repeat the successful Portland debut of the Top VW Shootout, as well as the usual classes of Aircooled, Watercooled, VW Bodied, Special and Trikes. Cash prize money is up for grabs again for the winner and runner-up of the Top VW Shootout.

Congratulations to Rose Merrett and John Barrett for scoring equal honours for first entry. One arrived via snail mail, the other email. The VWMA Warwick website section is still under construction, but should be operational by the weekend. The two options of entering and paying online, or printing the form and posting cheque/money order will still be available. I know I say this every year, but earlier is better for entries for me to organise, and having the correct number of people listed for catering is a must - at Portland I had to turn late dinner enquiries away. The dinner is limited to 100 people, so it's a case of first in.

The Warwick dragway have been busy with some track and ground improvements, and more are planned for next year. The Qld wet season late last year and early this threw a few plans astray, but the club has managed to get back to business. Remember please that camping at the track is non-powered and the use of generators is permitted providing they are switched off at a reasonable hour.

As it happens every year, I have much to do to my race car before the event, but I will be driving not watching (where's the fun in that?!)

See you on the track.

Cheers

What car are you racing this year craig?? Could the buggy be coming out??

Buggy will be there, but with a guest driver. My rail is not yet ready, although I may take it up there for display. I'm either in the Fvee again or in the tower. Such is drag racing and publishing....
