I'm bringing my beetle based Speedster replica into the country soon, and I'll need to get a blue slip inspection done.

As I understand it, I need to take it to the nearest convenient test station. Can anyone recommend someone who will be used to air cooled VWs near to Girraween (2145) ?

Hi,

Welcome to Australia. I used to live in Toongabbie the next suburb from Girraween.

Your lucky there is a great business in Seven Hills the next suburb to Toongabbie who specialises in personal imports and Blue Slips.

Thanks mate, speaking to the guys at Complete Car Care now. I'll let you know how I get on. I'll be glad when all the paperwork is done and I can get on with driving the thing.

Just thought I'd let you know how this went, in case anyone else tries to go through the same thing.

Complete Car Care weren't keen to take this on - a bit too 'unusual' a car for them I think. I'm going to get it trailered to CBB and take it from there, that way they can take care of any work which needs doing to get it registered.

Complete Car care I thought would do the paperwork, but any modifications to the car may need to go elsewhere!

I thought I'd post a quick update on here in case it helps anyone else trying to do the same thing in future.

I've got the car back now, all registered and with NSW plates on it. Mike at CBB was excellent - I've been pretty worried about how this would go, but it was pretty painless in the end. CBB were professional and great to deal with throughout.

They also tuned the engine on the dyno while it was there, and the results are unbelievable - drives far better than ever before.

So all in all, a great result - well happy.

Congrat's on getting it all sorted. Now show us what it looks like.

OK, here you go.

I've had VWs since 1990, the bug this was built from was my first ever car. When it met an unfortunate end (not my fault) I decided to use the chassis (all that was left) for the speedster replica build.

Still want a bug every time I see one, but I reckon a T2 camper will be next for me. Kills me when I think what I sold my old one for (in about 1994)
