Going Oldschool Rallying - Vaux-boat-all MADE IT!

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/91954/going-oldschool-rallying-vaux-boat-all-made-it

baybuscamperkid ·

Hey all,

My girlfriend and I are one of the teams on next years shitbox rally!

We will be joining 149 other vehicles in a 3500km drive from Melbourne to Cairns via central Australia. The rally raises funds for the Cancer Council and must be undertaken in a vehicle costing no more than $1000 including registration.

We are definite that we want a vehicle from the 50's 60's or 70's, but are not specific on what it is, although preference is for a rear wheel drive manual wagon.

Having previously owned a Type 3 wagon, one of these is definitely on the list of plausible vehicles, there value seems to have increased since the one that I owned, but I feel it should still be possible to get a mechanically sound but visually rough one registered for $1000 with a bit of luck. Does anyone have one available in Vic or NSW?

Also, if anyone is willing to donate a few dollars to the cause that would be great. The donations page is: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors and full details on the rally can be found at http://www.shitboxrally.com.au/

mactaylor ·

you will find one they are still out there! maybe a sponsorship deal will get you a car! ask and you may recieve!

grinderman ·

Hell Yea, I saw them pass through toowoomba during this years rally, and I thought I gotta join that bunch of lunatics next year. Im going to find an old passat, I know them pretty well and they are hard to kill

baybuscamperkid ·

So you're in this year? Registrations have already closed. We actually thought about a Passat, found one in the price bracket with 170,000km on it from new! Auto unfortunately and came up before we were ready to act. late 70's from memory

grinderman ·

Is next years rally already full?

baybuscamperkid ·

Afraid so. 2012 reached it's maximum of 150 cars within a couple of days, we were lucky enough to get selected this time, which is why we're now working away on donations, so anyone who would like to put a few dollars towards our nuttiness and helping the Cancer Council...

http://www.everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors

Mactaylor, unfortunately the rules are a little tricky about donated vehicles or vehicles as sponsorship, their value has to be proven,so it would be much easier for us to buy one. I suppose it's been 5 or so years, but I paid $500 for the last type 3 I owned and it only needed a little rust work to get it on the road, hopefully they're still out there.

Newt ·

I think Id rather an HG Kingswood.....

baybuscamperkid ·

nah, holden or ford is far too easy/common ;P . from what we've seen so far (we're still keeping an open mind) we're thinking:
VW Type 3 wagon
Renault 10
Saab 99
Volvo 140
Humber Snipe

donn ·

jeez mate, you sure have a hard to find line up, HUMBER SNIPE ? where are you going to find one at the price you have set, Renault 12 maybe, wishing you luck, sounds like a great adventure. 👍

baybuscamperkid ·

You'd be surprised,

There was a Renault 10 with fairly fresh motor and box we could have snapped up for $700 if we were quick enough, the Super Snipes I've seen several around $2k, so I'm confident one may fall into our range, seen a couple of Volvo 140s and 164s in the price range but out of the state, The Saab and Volksy have actually been the most difficult to find so far.

Should also add Toyota Crown wagon to the list, have a real soft spot for the real early ones and the 70s ones which look like space craft are pretty cool if very rare in wagon form. Happy to take other suggestions as well!

Sides ·

Wow, you think there are Snipe's still around ???

I've never seen a Snipe on the road... just the one rusting away out on my grandfather's property.

Got two Super Snipe's, but they're in Hunter Valley NSW, which is a fair way from you.

baybuscamperkid ·

There's always a few in 'just cars' classifieds. What condition are the super snipes in? My girlfriend is living in Sydney at the moment and I'm always willing to make a crazy journey for the right car 😀

baybuscamperkid ·

Anyone owned a Skoda 110L? I know of one which may be too much of a project, but also tempting for rear-engined obscurity 😂

baybuscamperkid ·

No-one on the Skoda? how about an old Transit? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220824606566&ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT#ht_686wt_932

Turbo54 ·

Go a valiant of some kind. run forever, tough as nails and will get your money back after your finished. Plenty for that price.
T54

baybuscamperkid ·

I just logged onto hemi6pack to see about Val wagons and copped something close to abuse for thinking I could get a rough but plausible val under a grand, not impressed! there are a couple on Mopar market which suggest it is possible, but I'm not sure I want to promote that community after the welcome. Am getting more info on a Hillman Minx at the moment for cuteness value 😁

baybuscamperkid ·

Hillman's got a blown diff, I can't imagine they're easy to find? 🙁

donn ·

Well my lady says thanks, I was suddenly looking for $ and a place to park it, when I was a bit (40+years) younger I prefered them over the mini. Great car. Give me the link please. 😵👍

baybuscamperkid ·

for the Minx? Here you go: http://vic.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-hillman-minx-W0QQAdIdZ304842799 wonderfully cute little car, if it wasn't for the diff we'd be all over it.

coletrickle ·

Except for the diff! Damm! That must be a big job?don't be picky I drive a 91 Toyota grinner 1.8 4 speed that's shorter geared than my beetle racer cost me $300 with 6 months rego,I've put some low milage oil in it and 1 oil filter and a bit of gearbox oil and I've done 20,000klms in it!get on to your local tow away for free dude you'll get a car for a couple of hundred get it regoed take a chance and make some money for the cancer council!sure a 91 Kia rio with reg for $600 ain't cool but if it gets you to the end job done!and if it's still going your ready for the next one or sell it to a entrant of the next one get your money back and donate that aswell your karma will be in a good place.see where I'm coming from?

baybuscamperkid ·

Not being picky, but at a $900 asking, even if we were able to knock it down to $500, finding a diff will not be easy for one of these, allowing a couple of hundred for that we end up at $700, which leaves $300 for roadworthy, rego and any other parts that need replacing to get it on the road. Since the rally stipulates a max $1000 spend this car just won't work for us.

I am well aware that we could go and get a Rio or Commodore, which would blend into the 149 other cars on the rally and probably make the distance, but we are in discussion with several potential sponsors involved in industries related to older more unique vehicles, so by chasing a vehicle we will get greater enjoyment from we are also promoting the enjoyment of old cars and bringing sponsors to provide money to the Cancer Council who would never usually have done so.

baybuscamperkid ·

just missed out on a Hillman Minx wagon, out of our price range by $60 🙁 At least we know there's some out there

baybuscamperkid ·

Well, team Desert Sailors has taken the plunge. We did a 500km round trip today to view and purchase our 2012 Shitbox Rally car.

The rally travels 3500km from Melbourne to Cairns via central Australia. 150 vehicles costing no more than $1000 including registration will partake, each raising at least $4000 for the Cancer Council.
Our car for the journey? A 1960 Vauxhall Victor Super. Country car, minimal rust (lower edge of front guards and back corner of sills),some mechanical work already done, and the coolest dashboard ever made! Complete with an original handbook and all matching locks.

Only bit missing that we know of is a hubcap and a headlight surround - if people can keep an eye out for a headlight surround it would be greatly appreciated!

Plan is to deal with metalwork and any mechanical work left which needs freshening, give it a rally suitable paintjob, and drive it!

Not the most relaxing drive, peak hour near the city with a car trailer:

Our first sighting of our new toy:

Loading up:

Dropped the front guards on, original owner supposedly had a habit of forgetting to put the handbrake on and rolling into shops, hence the guard:

How clean is the interior!!

Key works in the boot:

Even came with the orignal handbook!:

We're pretty stoked at the moment. If anyone would like to put a few dollars to the Cancer Council (tax deductible for Australians) we'd greatly appreciate it, just pop on here: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors We're also currently looking for corporate sponsors, so get in contact if your business would like to support this cause and get their name out there on a very unique rolling billboard. 🙂

baybuscamperkid ·

Spent about an hour today piecing the boot-full of parts together, pretty happy with the result!

chickenfillet ·

Congrats on the Victor! Modern auto designers could learn a few things from that dash, love it.

Good luck with the rebuild and the Rally, hope she doesn't take too much to get back on the road.

Kevin

annosL ·

Looks good, seems to be a british version of the EK holden, same period and both GM. Hope it doesn't let ya down!

baybuscamperkid ·

I'd been thinking of it as a little british '55 Chev, but there's definitely hints of an EK in there too, especially around the front. I still can't get over how cool the dash is!

baybuscamperkid ·

Very exciting news today,

Team Desert Sailors are very happy to announce our first major sponsors, The LUCKY COQ ;D

One of my favourite haunts since it opened the Lucky Coq is a big friendly corner pub right next to Swinburne Uni on Chapel St, Prahran which has built a name for itself serving great original pizzas, flavoured vodkas and a top selection of local beers. The funky vibe of the venue is perfectly inline with our team and our car and we're wrapped to have them on board.

http://www.luckycoq.com.au/

baybuscamperkid ·

Hi All, more exciting news, we'd like to welcome Vintage Caravan Magazine as our second sponsor.

Vintage Caravan Magazine is a recently started Australian magazine covering the classic caravan and touring world in Australia, and as well as becoming Team Desert Sailor sponsors we will be keeping their readers up to date with team updates in their coming magazines

Super Minx would be a Hillman 🙂

We very nearly ended up with one of these in wagon form.

Humber would be a Super Snipe:

whats the taillights look like on the car in the last pic?

vlad01 ·

mmm? might be it? I recall seeing bee hives though. So hard to remember back to age of 4 lol

baybuscamperkid ·

Well we've had half a day to spend beginning work on the Victor and things are going very well. We rehung the front doors which had only been sat on in order to get it home and they are now opening and closing nicely. We also refitted the interior trim to the front doors which is in AMAZING condition (unfortunately we will have to remove it again to properly refit the outside chrome trim).

We had been told by the previous owner that the drums were freshly machined and the pads new, and after taking off 2 of the drums this definitely seems to be the case. It also appears that the brake cylinders may be in good condition as they appear to have nice fresh feeling dust seals on them and show no visible signs of leaking. Some fluid in the drained master cylinder and the brakes are now well on their way to being useable.

baybuscamperkid ·

Just read a great little article on the F series Victors, sounds very promising about mechanical durability! It also suggests that the interiors wear out and aren;t durable even in the UK environment, making me even certain that the near perfext vinyl in ours makes for a very low km car 😀
http://www.4x4mart.co.uk/archive.php?ed_id=330&limit=0&pos=0&channel=&keywords=&smonth=&syear=&emonth=&eyear=

annosL ·

It's looking good so far, thanks for the pics

baybuscamperkid ·

We spent another couple of hours on the Victor today. Sanded down the bodyfiller in the guard and bonnet to see what lies beneath. No rust but lots of dints, the previous owner managed to find a remarkable number of sharp objects with the front left corner of the car!

We got the basic panelbeating tools out that I've had for a while, had a read of a how-to article in a classic car magazine and got stuck into it. We won't be putting any filler in, just straightening it as much as possible and then repainting to seal the metal.

I added a quick bit of paint to the bonnet to seal it from the bad weather of the next few days. Pretty happy with the result for our first time!

baybuscamperkid ·

Late notice as it ends tonight but we've added our Victor to Just Car Insurance's coolest car competition for a laugh,Please vote for us if you're on facebook, or even better drop a couple of dollars into our everyday heroes tax deductible sponsorship page 😀

Victor's got new shoes!

Scored a near new set of 165x80x13" tyres off Ebay a week or so ago and fitted them up to the old girls wheels today. Also chucked on my spare roofrack to make her more rally-ish :P

baybuscamperkid ·

Not much hapenning on the car at the moment as I'm down to my last fortnight of uni ever, but some good news. We picked up some fantastically retro Pioneer parcel shelf speakers at the swapmeet in Croydon for $5 so we're one step closer to having some tunes in the car, and we have a very exciting event to announce!

I've posted this in the events forum but for those who haven't made the connection - The Lucky Coq in Prahran is throwing Desert Sailors a launch Party! On Sunday Nov 27th we will have the Victor out the front of the pub, there will be a BBQ with sales going towards the fundraising, back-issues of Vintage Caravan Magazine also being sold as fundraising with more details to some. We're got a facebook event up and running for it and expect the Lucky Coq will add an official event page shortly http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=195644283845231

I just found this photo today, great to see a Victor going hard in the dirt! Anyone know where I can get a copy of the movie it comes from? (Rallybrudar, 2008) It features the Victor, a bunch of Volvo 122s' and many more lovely classics and I can;t find a copy for sale anywhere!

baybuscamperkid ·

Finally got around to doing some welding on the car. I'll let the pictures do the work:

To continue our wonderfully productive week Desert Sailors is very pleased to announce another sponsor for our grand adventure for the Cancer Council.

Hemco seatbelts ( http://www.hemco.com.au/seatbelts.html )has come on board this week. For those that don't know them, Hemco are suppliers of volume and one-off seatbelts for all makes and models of cars. We use them at work and I've had a set of standard belts fitted to my Volvo for the last 12 months, and have just treated myself to some custom belts in green to match the interior. Hemco can do custom length static and retractable belts with a range of stalk options and colour options at very reasonable prices and made in Australia. They've been here for a while too, I recently hopped into a mate's Peugeot 403 and the period fitted belts in that are Hemco!

baybuscamperkid ·

We've had some fun recently and decided to put together some Team Tshirts for the Desert Sailors. All designs give $10 directly to our donation drive for the Cancer Council.

Exciting times, 3 days of long hours and late nights and the Victor is painted!

Day 1 involved the last bits of metalwork and some metal prep and final assembly:

Day 2 I prepped the top half of the car with the help of a good mate, masked it up and hit it with 1l of 'aluminium', small compressor, gun set up for thick paint and paint made to be brushed on rather then sprayed, thinned heavily for the purpose. The result is appalling but fitting 🙂 :

Then day 3 saw the lower half of the car prepped, silver drips removed and a litre of ridiculously loud blue added. Like the silver the blue had issues, very thin and didn't want to adhere to the base, but again I think the result is fitting:

Then reassembly on the mostly-dry new car:

not bad for 3 days work!

donn ·

Bloody beautifull ! 😁 looks like your having lotsa fun already. 👍

baybuscamperkid ·

Not terrible for $65 worth of paint :P Melbournites can come and see it in the flesh on Sunday, it will be proudly displayed on the back of a trailer out the front of Lucky Coq in Prahran for it's launch party

baybuscamperkid ·

So exciting to see it outside in the sun for the first time!

baybuscamperkid ·

Looks like the weather's clearing, should be a good day at the Lucky Coq in Prahran tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon for the Victor's launch, just got to give it a quick wash and fit the rear bumper then she's ready for her debut!

baybuscamperkid ·

I'd like to say a big thankyou Lucky Coq for hosting our Shitbox Rally launch party on Sunday. The sun was shining, BBQ was sizzling, and between the BBQ and raffle we managed to raise another $240 for a good cause.
Raffle Winners were:
Polly (ticket 18)
Kiy (ticket 1)
Jason (ticket 26)

baybuscamperkid ·

BIG weekend on the Victor. Started to piece the wiring back together, so far I am a couple of globes away from working indicators, brake lights and taillights. Still need to figure out how to hook up the headlights since the wiring has been cut to change from the old globes to sealed beams.

Gearshift is linked up and seems to be shifting quite well, Starter motor is working, car is turning over, fuel is getting to the carb, just lacking something in the spark department as far as I can tell before she is a runner 😀

Also drilled out the broken stud in the exhaust manifold, reassembled it, hooked up throttle and choke, removed, inspected and reinstalled the waterpump, I think that'll do me for the weekend!

Want to say thankyou to Smithy's LPG in Bayswater too, as they made a very generous donaqtion to the team on Friday.

baybuscamperkid ·

2 friendly cars during my weekend workathon 🙂

baybuscamperkid ·

IT RUNS!!!!!

Given stale fuel, dirty old plugs, spark plug leads covered in electrical tape she runs soo much better than she has any right to

baybuscamperkid ·

Got to drive the Victor today, had a little fun bleeding the clutch slave and need to find a suitable upper rad hose, but was otherwise very happy with the drive, if a little scared by 4 wheel drum brakes!

Sound makes it sound pretty rough but it actually sounded and pulled smoothly if slowly

annosL ·

Well done! great stuff and it looks the part!

baybuscamperkid ·

Thanks, can't wait to take her out on a real road!

baybuscamperkid ·

oil replaced, gearbox oil filled, diff topped up, headlights wired and adjusted, horn wired and extensively tested ( :-D ) battery secured, wipers reassembled, wiring tidied up, coolant flushed and refreshed, accelerator pedal fitted... I need some sleep! not much to do tomorrow before roadworthy hopefully!

annosL ·

good luck with the roadworthy, hope you gat a decent examiner

baybuscamperkid ·

Thanks, fingers crossed. Dashboard lights fixed, exhaust mounts tweaked, may need a new battery, a non-working temp gauge isn't a roadworthy issue is it?

annosL ·

I wouldn't have thought so, surely they not notice it

baybuscamperkid ·

We've broken the $2k mark on http://everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors !

Very excited that we have managed to raise over $2,000 for the Shitbox Rally and the Cancer Council so far. We're still working hard to raise plenty more before April.

After taking the Victor for a good run at the start of the week we decided that it was not yet ready for a Sydney trip, so my trusty Volvo 122s will do the trip to collect my co-driver instead. This gives us another couple of weeks to fine-tune the Victor before it's registered and on the road. It needs a bit of a tune up to clear a very small miss and possibly some front carpet or rubber to help deaden the sound of the little 1500 screaming through 3 speed gearbox, but overall I am very excited by how it drove over about 40km of testing in traffic and am looking forward to driving it much further.

Merry Christmas to all those who have supported us by reading this thread or by donating to our everydayhero page.

annosL ·

Well done! great effort, have a great Xmas too

baybuscamperkid ·

Thanks AnnosL
Well it may look like I've done nothing but I've actually been very busy cleaning up wiring, checking and adjusting wheelbearings and joints, adjusting handbrake... Planning on taking her to my favourite show of the year, Kustom Nats at the start of January on Philip Island, so keep an eye out for us if you're coming along 😀

Anyone know of somewhere I could find the original style oil filters for one of these?

baybuscamperkid ·

The New Year's here! Check out thi awesome donations tin Seb from the Lucky Coq has made us 😀 Make sure you drop in a gold coin or 2 if you see it 😉

baybuscamperkid ·

HI All, it's been a while since I've updated this thread, but for good reason, we've been hard at it with the tools and spit-polish to get to today, when we finally have our Shitbox Rally Vauxhall Victor registered!!

There's still some niggles (temp gauge doesn't work and fuel gauge invents levels as you drive) but we're super excited to have it registered and are ready to hit the road.

In more good news we're only a couple of hundred dollars short of $3,000 in money raised for the Cancer Council so far which is a great start, although we're always keen for more http://everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors

baybuscamperkid ·

Proof 🙂

And to celebrate we're having a sausage sizzle at the Lucky Coq in Prahran all afternoon Sunday 19th, all funds raised from the sausage sizzle go to our team fundraising in support of the Cancer Council

baybuscamperkid ·

Had an interesting night last night, as Melbourne locals would be aware we had a 'little bit' of rain yesterday afternoon. The Vauxhall is safely locked up behind a gate in the spare loading dock at work, undercover and out of the way. With the torrential rain I thought I would take a quick look to make sure the Victor was OK before heading home. I'll let the photos do most of the explaining:

We dragged it out at around 9pm and pulled all the drainplugs out of the floor. There is water in the sump, but everything else looked ok so we put the key in the ignition, dash lights came on, headlights/indicators/wipers worked, turned the key and it fired straight up! 😀 Relief is an understatement.

Here's what it looks like the next morning:

see the high-water line on the radiator surround?

up and over the generator

and straight through the interior

As a result of this incident I am now confident we shose the correct team name for the Shitbox Rally, team Desert Sailors seems very fitting, and in reverence to Top Gear I now know our Victor as the Vaux-boat-all

baybuscamperkid ·

A Big thankyou to the Lucky Coq in Prahran for holding a registration party for us yesterday, we managed to raise $230 in raffle takings alone, and are yet to count up the money from the sausage sizzle, so the day was a great success.

I will start a thread elsewhere, but we also got a very generous donation which we are about to begin auctioning off. We have a 1/10th scale 4x4 electric Ford XR8 ute from approximately 2006 signed by the majority of the 2006 V8 supercar team (I will list the signatures tonight). Because of the value of this we are holding an auction on eBay starting today. There is no reserve, the starting bid is $260, which from the research I have done is less than the current retail of one of these chassis, before the signature collection is considered. As the model was donated to us, all proceeds from the auction will go to our fundraising effort supporting the Cancer Council.

baybuscamperkid ·

A little update, the Victor has been pushed into daily service this week, and so far so good (aside from spitting a wiper within 2min of leaving home this morning), strengthened the roofrack a little and am testing it with some weight, get some funny looks in suburbia!

What's mroe exciting, thanks to the $300 raised through the model auction we are very nearly at our $4k minimum fundraising! Great news since we leave 1 month from tommorow

Craig Torrens ·

what a bummer re the flooding 🙁

baybuscamperkid ·

at least we know it'll survive river crossings 🙂

baybuscamperkid ·

We've broken $4k!

Very exciting news, we've now fundraised over $4,000! There's still more in the works, but less than a month to go before the rally and the car's registered and running well, we've reached our minimum fundraising target and we're itching to get underway. Big thankyou to everyone who has supported us so far.

http://everydayhero.com.au/desertsailors

annosL ·

well done!

baybuscamperkid ·

Still a few stickers to add, but the Victor is Stickered! We had great fun at the Lucky Coq today covering the car with stickers from all of our sponsors. Thanks so much to all our supporters:

Vintage Caravan Magazine
Antique Tyres
Hemco
Calmer Sutra Tea

baybuscamperkid ·

It's time!

Tommorow morning the rally begins! The Vaux-Boat-All has been pushed into daily service all week after a condensor failure gave us a scare last week and things are looking good. Not using oil or water noticeably, no new rattles...

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone who's supported us along the way, we've worked our butts off to get this car on the road and raise the funds necessary to compete, and every dollar donated and every kind word on the forums has helped us along the way. We've raised just under $6,000 now and are very proud of the effort for a couple of students in their 20's. We be sure to update everyone with plenty of pics at the end of the trip.

annosL ·

well done, hope you enjoy the experience!!

baybuscamperkid ·

We Made It!!

After 3500 LONG km the Vauxhall Victor and the majority of other shitboxes made it to Cairns last Friday afternoon.

Our Victor made it through mostly unscathed, with only a cracked radiator causing issues on the road (aside from some rubbish fuel and woeful handling :P ) We ended up raising around $6,000, and as a bonus the Victor sold before auction for $1,000 which also goes into our fundraising efforts for the Cancer Council.

We loved being on the rally, so many great people and sights, all of the little towns we stayed in were so welcoming and the scenery was absolutely stunning. We proved what is possible in an old car and look forward to doing it all again next year.

For those interested, the event put together a set of great videos of for each day of the rally which are available to view here: http://www.shitboxrally.com.au/shitbox-rally-2012-watch-all-the-videos/ we make a brief appearance in nearly every video and were wrapped to feature in the second half of the day 5 video. We also make a couple of appearances in a segment for The Project on Channel 10 (fast forward to 2:20) http://theprojecttv.com.au/video.htm?movideo_p=39696&movideo_m=179989

We're exhausted and thrilled and in need of some spinal realignment after 10 hours a day on bench seats so I will leave you with some highlight photos of the trip:

congrats, looks like you had a ball while doing a very good thing 👍

Well done! Looks like a fantastic trip. I would say that you definitely had the best car there, with the Falcon limo coming in as a close second. All the people in the boring '90s cars will have missed half the fun!

Amen to that. I travelled with Ryan most of the journey in a 1979 Fiat 131. Our car made it to the end too although it ended up in the wreckers once we reached Cairns.

The limo was fantastic, as was a similar period hearse. The Saab and Alfa drivers were a little game as well

That looks like way too much fun. Next year is no good for me, but definite bucket list!!!

We all had a good laugh at the Saab that had more Falcon and Commodore bits on it by the end than Saab bits. It was appropriately named "Anita Tow". 😂

bloody awesome stuff
how many cars didn't make it and what where they?
you should have brought it and drove it home 🙂

I think around 10 cars didn't make it this year, those I know of for certain:
2 Mercedes Benz 1980's models
1 Daihatsu Move (holed 2 exhaust valves)
1 Ford Corsair (Head and headgasket cracks)
1 Holden Astra (0 compression in all cylinders)
1 Saab
1 other 80's sedan with a cracked gearbox

7 days straight in the old girl was enough, we had always planned to sell, it was still a littel sad to see it go, but getting $1k for it (which goes to the fundraising) and seeing it potentially back on the road was a great feeling.

The 80's sedan was a Camry.
I also remember at least one (maybe two) deceased Magnas.

EDIT: Ther was also an XF Falcon that didn't make it beyond day 1.
