I've heard of modernising your old volkswagens, But this is taking it to a new level. This is still being finished off so the full photo story isn't available yet. But it looks pretty cool. 馃檪

So they have changed it from a bay window to a split window and also reduced it from a 15 window (stupid bastards) to a 13 window and just for fun are throwing a Toyota chassis under it and a V8. I love it all except the 2 windows they closed in and the colour.

Great work, Kev.

mmmmmmmmmm 1UZ kombi. Where is it?

It would have to be Thailand, they love their hand made custom fab stuff there.

I'm pretty sure it started out as one of those mutant 80s Brazillian bays which have the split side and corner windows and hatch.

They've just fitted a splitty front skin.
Notice some of the bays in the background are the same.

VDUBXTC 路

Yeah they specialize in turning the Brazillian Bays into splitties. Lot of work goes into them by the looks. Camo you'll be glad to know that they are also making one out of a mitso van with all 15 windows and the splitty front 馃檪

Such a shame it'd be nearly impossible to register over here

donn 路

I heard somewhere that if it's on a full chasis like this one it isnt too hard to get them registered.

That's kind of true, you could register it as a re-bodied commercial vehicle using the identity of the chassis, but then the bodywork would have to meet certain safety specs like side intrusion bars, burst-proof latches and so forth. Anything is possible with enough money!

This van is amazing by the way. So much work but it's awesome! Not what I would build at all, but very impressive.
