with the support & backing from Team WPVW , Cindy has decided to come drag racing with 'Billi' her 1965 model rat beetle

for those of you who dont know Cindy , she has been a team member of WPVW for the past 4 years . She raced at Warwick in 2009 in a blue 1973 L-bug powered by a 1776 type-1 engine and also in 2010 in a red 1960 Karmann Ghia powered by a 1776cc turbo type-1 engine

this year Cindy plans to run her much loved 'Billi' at Warwick with a new 2332ml turbo injected type-1 engine

hypo-vw ·

Billi gets 4-wheel disc brakes , a 2" narrowed front beam , drop spindles , a tandem brake master cylinder and all new brake hoses

hypo-vw ·

Billi is back on her wheels and the brakes / steering feel great .
Now the engine & transmission parts start to arrive . WPVW bores the new engine case for the 94mm barrels and the case is clearanced for the 84mm stoke crank

hi Chris , we are running a microtec LT-10s ecu which incorporates ignition / fuel management & map sensor for boost .
Love the progress on your bug mate , cant wait to see it run at Warwick 😎

LOWBUG ·

I can't wait to get there either, hopefully all the loose ends should be finalised next week, then onto the dyno.

Are you going to run an intake cooling system on this engine and what size turbo?

LOWBUG ·

Turb oand engine set up similar to mine, cool, good to see the pockets are deep at the wpvw camp. Not much time left to get it going. Another Turbo car on the way, sweet. What fuel are you gonna run it on?

vw54 ·

LOWBUG wrote:Another Turbo car on the way, sweet. What fuel are you gonna run it on?
after the cost of the build , we were thinking of pushing it as we cant afford the fuel . lol
think we might start a fund-raiser ...... help WPVW get their cars to Warwick

LOWBUG ·

Cars coming along nice, and I've moved on to a mop and bucket

hypo-vw ·

more engine progress for Cindys' rat-look beetle . engine bottom end finished , deep sump tapped for temp sender , pistons balanced

hypo-vw ·

engine assembly completed , now the cooling tin and turbo system will be installed . New oil cooler and CB performance turbo header installed also

Good work guys👍

hypo-vw ·

more progress on Cindys' engine . The turbo header and cooling tin have been fitted and the engine fitted to my turbo oval to check clearances to the rear apron assembly . all looks good

hypo-vw ·

more engine progress . CB performance injector manifolds and rails fitted .intake plenum being manufactured

hypo-vw ·

more engine progress

hypo-vw ·

more progress with Ciindys rat bug . Wiring of the microtec ecu and fitting of all fuel lines ,pump and filter . We found that Cindy is very handy with a soldering iron

hypo-vw ·

more engine progress

hypo-vw ·

Man, I want this motor. I love it, well done guys and good luck with it Cindy you lucky girl 😁

Wayne, since you got most of the gear from CB are you using one of their turbos. Also, do you know with the CB turbo exhaust system if it will bolt up with heater boxes or only J pipes.

Thanks and keep us updated, Kev 👍

After a lot of work billi's motor was finally started today. i will post video in the day or two. Now all that is needed is tuning then it will be ready for cindy to drive again. See pictures of Billi's new wheels - Santa was really good this year!!

bugzla ·

hey guy what ignition do you run on this motor

2442supercharged ·

We use a msd coil with a electronic ignition kit

bugzla ·

ben was it a petronix unit and the dizzy locked out sorry for all the questions in a build at the moment and weighing it all up was looking at running the ignition through the microtech has anybody used that option on their vw if so what sort of trigger did you use ive got a 2.1 waser dizzy i want to use through the computer

2442supercharged ·

Yeah it was a petronix with a locked 009 we use the microtech for the ignition I will have to check what trigger we use as I can't remember I know it is a Bosch brand. We use the microtech to control the timing curve

1916baja ·

Have a look at Davis drag buggy project... He runs full microtech and a 13b rotary crank trigger sensor.

bugzla ·

thanks guys this has been great cheers would like to know the trigger if poss would be a ignition module we are talking about ben

2442supercharged ·

I will try to post a pic of it tomorrow
