Well I have to give credit where credit is due. Received a letter from this supplier and have come to a commercial settlement. The person that packed the order wrote me a letter apologizing for the delayed shipment and my wasted time.
My faith has been restored in Australian V W suppliers service and a big thumbs up to Mike for going above and beyond the call of duty. I will wear the gift stickers with pride. Cheers Mike hope it all comes back to you x 2.
A Happy customer My2c

Explained that no parts suppliers were open in brisbane (WTF) till the 16th and would like the parts for a job on the week-end. Price was higher than local but what can you do (over a barrel) No parts arrive by week end 😬 Figure must have missed postage time frame. Monday comes and goes still no parts 😬 (could have got them delivered from the states by now) Ring supplier inquiring on my order. Told that it is on the bench and will be ready for shipping this arvo. 😬 The reason because he was swamped (not by this customer anymore) At least when you finally got an order through to Classic it WAS here the next day My2c
your kidding right? well that's just f#kced!! 😬
maybe the parts shop should have this BS pointed out to em, I'm sure it's not hard to work it out
after all the economic probs over the last coupla years u would think that the local blokes would
a) deliver on what they had promised
b) be open
I hope u get ur shite by this weekend mate
unbelievable 🤪

vwo60 ·

They will be dumb enough to ask why when they go broke.

vlad01 ·

haha and parts I bought on and around xmas day from Europe arrive in no time 😁

Thats why I buy overseas most of the time. they are simply better at looking after their buyers.

Here I am back at work on the 3rd and seems the whole of melbourse just started coming back today. yesterday was the 9th and still not many people were around 🙄

I would hate to live in Qld for this reason 😂

At the end of October i called in to Just Kampers in Sydney to get a few parts , I found out that i was billed for parts that i did not order , did not want and did not get . So far i have been unable to get a refund for the amount i am owed .Very disapointed with them . Will never deal with them again.
Vollks = highly recommend. Wassim is 100% behind all his products.😎
Micks = no problems with these guys.😎
Rod Penrose = highly recommend . another top guy to deal with. 😎
Classic vw = George is a good guy as well .
Just Kampers = 😠😠😠😠

Don't forget us new guys (www.dasrestoparts.com.au) - whilst we are still working on building up our stock levels (takes a hell of a lot of capital investment to stock everything), we do our best to get parts promptly to anyone who orders with us.

plug over 🙂

I will support you Al. At least i can drive down and pick it up. Mmmmm CSP wide five disc brake kit. Best price i ve seen worldwide.

Dasdubber ·

Yep we re-opened on the 3rd and still completed on line orders in the week preceeding.

Unfortunately we do not have the buying power as some of the big boys, and hence cannot compete on price for every product. We do our best to be competitive though but professional facilties, customer service (adequate staffing) and quality products all contribute to the pricing.

One snippet of our showroom:

We always welcome feedback, so if people do have products they are chasing or have any other constructive criticism, don't hesitate to contact us:

Sorry for continuing the plug but seeing as we now sponsor AVD (waiting on our banner ad to be uploaded) thought it was okay 🙂

Just wondering, do all you good people have a holiday? I presume most, if not all, of you would say yes.
Do you think it reasonable for the people in a company like Micks to have a holiday as well ? i would think so.
Have any of you heard of a concept called planning?
Micks are open 5&1/2 days a week for around 49 weeks a year so that works out at 270 days /year or 75% of the time available ,how bloody much do you want?
Give em a break, there is a small staff to keep prices down ,increase staff and increase prices ,not that hard to work out

FLAME away

no flame just a wet lettuce leaf slapped about
blah blah holidays
it is totally reasonable to have holidays, we live in Australia the land of holidays
however better planning of staff, large or small would see the doors open and local customers happy
OBVIOUS gap in the brisbane Market when ALL are closed, apparently.. 'TAKE NOTE'
if that way of thinking prevailed most small businesses would close up for the holidays n let's all live back in the 70's where sfa was open out of bank hours
just imagine if cafes bakeries lifeguards etc planned this way

erm.. that's not the point Dave
if you are told that when u order something earlier in the week you'd have the parts by the weekend n you point it out to them, I'm sure you would gladly hand over the reddys
but when they don't arrive in time and then YOU have to chase it up the following week n ur told they are on the dispatch bench ready for shipping
this is unacceptable - don't you agree?
as the thread title states..

That is strange as I got a wrong part from JustKampers (their fault). They refunded me the cost of the item (~$12) and I didn't have to return it. They then couriered me the correct part ( no postage charged) so I could get it installed over the Xmas/ new year break.

So 👍 for JustKampers

Mattriots ·

I waited almost 2 months for stuff from classic, I was told at least a dozen times that "it'll get shipped tomorrow" but it never did! That's the last time I buy from them!!
CIP1 all the way!! The parts get to me in 3-4 days from California and the stuff is cheap, plus they always reply to my emails promptly. It's no wonder no body buys anything from Australia anymore, Most Aussie businesses don't give a rats about customer service
That's my 2c

AyeBee ·

Mattriots wrote:I was told at least a dozen times that "it'll get shipped tomorrow"
I was always told "I sent it yesterday"... for weeks lol.

Justkampers and Vollks are the only Sydney shops I bother to order from anymore, everyone else takes too long and wastes my time. Been happy with the few things I've bought from Micks, and will be buying some stuff through Das Resto real soon. Overseas I've bought from CIP1 and been VERY happy with service, price and delivery times.

TorxKiwi ·

Placed an order with Classic in the first week of December, still haven't received it. Have experienced the 'parcel is shipping today' and also had no repy to at least 5 emails. I don't begrudge anyone having the opportunity to spend time with friends and family, particularly over Christmas/New Year, just let me know when I can really expect to see it arrive and I'll plan around it.

Funnily enough the charge appeared on my credit card about 3 weeks ago. Meanwhile the car sits on jack stands.

Old Hutcho ·

Just Kampers for me 👎

Ordered parts for an early bug when their site was clearly saying the wrong thing. So I made sure I pointed out my correct model to them and of 9 items I ordered 6 were incorrect. They paid for the courier back (thank you) and then sent me some more stuff for the wrong model. Other issues I wont discuss here but I wont be going back. I will stick with George or Boris. Its a pity cause they came highly recommended by one of the other suppliers who sponsor this forum. Made sure the blokes in my club were made aware of the issues though so I wonder how much it is going to cost them in the long run. I know how much they cost me. $54!😠 And no offer of compensation for freight, time, etc etc. Bugger em.

regards

Old Hutcho

DAS resto parts gets my double thumbs up 👍 👍 , order some BRM's and arrived the next day. not only that but they answered their phone, and were happy to answer my questions. There service is exactly what we need up here in Qld and they will be my first point of call for all my VW needs. Well done DAS !!

DieSchnelleKafer ·

i can add to this post, im 15 years old and live near perth, i feel this is why have blatenly been treated like shit by most over east suppliers, honest. there is to many times to name that people have never gotten back to me, not answered my emails, sent me the wrong parts, led me on.

(most) i know there are good places, they will know who they are

helbus ·

I ordered some parts with a company about 100km away from me. I rang them late Tues afternoon. They said order would not leave until tomorrow, being Wed. This is understandable. The parts arrived Today at 11.00 am

It is not hard to organise couriers if you have parts in stock. Especially if you have a set courier service company.

nils ·

Never did understand the mon-fri thing for vw parts.
Most of us don't fix our vws during the week, but during our spare time. Would it be fair to say that is when the shops would do most of there bussiness?
being open from fri-mon would make more sense really, or possibly this day in age an internet based business would offer better prices due to lower overheads.

But really I think the real bottom line is.. . . . . . . . .., it's Australia boys and girls! we don't have the population to make a vw shop a hugely viable endevour (sorry to anyone who has a parts house, I just mean as compared to the big boys in the states) Our consumpsion is not large enough, thus our buying power isn't big enough, (cue aussie prices and lack of range for parts) Thus our parts houses can't afford or stock mass amounts of parts. And then there is our labour rates and cost of real estate which makes it very dear for anyone to run a shop efficiently. We do have to cut these guys a little slack, no doubt they are working hard. Of couse the good guys are working UNBELIEVIBLE hard to get your business.

Bottom line. If you want parts, think a week ahead and order overseas, (they will do alots for you because of the strength of the aussie dollar right now).
Sorry guys, I love australia but I love my bank account

donn ·

nils, I understand the bank account bit, I mean I really understand big time, but you make a very valid point about volume sales and then say to order overseas, it's a catch 22, more business sent os means less volume for the business trying to survive here, I'm Ausie and do everything in my power to protect Ausie business, even if I have to pay a bit more and / or wait a little longer, but I will always give preference to those that give the best.

Thanks mate, happy to help out.
Cheers for everyone else who has enquired with us first - unfortunately it is impossible for us to stock every single item related to every model straight away as we have invested far more capital already than expected, and still don't have half of what we'd like to in stock.

So bare with us over the next 6 to 12 months as we reinvest our sales back into stock - the more we sell, the faster our product line expands. Whilst it is hard to compete with places like CIP1, we will continue to try and stay competitive (on price and most importantly service) to entice owners to buy from Australian stores. I've had the shoe on the other foot for many years (first as a DIY enthusiast, then as a resto shop having to purchase parts from suppliers)... so I can understand both sides.

Cheers
Al

lou0060 ·

boy you guys really get your guts twisted in knots hey! I am a business owner selling tools and workshop equipment and I got to say that at the moment things a pretty tough in OZ for all retail business, just look at Glenfords they went into receivership last month and word is they are being liquidated. Two other tool businesses went bust in SE Qld last month, one in SAlisbury area and one at the Gold Coast. And it's not a case of poor service or lack of customer care, I can assure you we do everything in our power to get customers set but sometimes things just conspire against you and things don't go as planned.

The shop in question should be congratulated for opening those 3 days between xmas and new year. Sure they dropped Luftmeister's ball but how many others did they get right?? A pity that we are quick to crucify someone for one bad thing yet little gets said for all the good things they do.

Remember that without most of the Australian businesses this forum would probably not exist and I would think that 90% of the shows would not be held as I doubt the VW clubs themselves would be able to support the shows without the CASH input from the many vw shops in Australia. When was the last time the USA shops pitched in to sponsor one of our shows???

As nils has said we don't have the luxury or a 250 million population to support these business so many have had to be very smart about inventory levels etc. Also, I am an importer as well, as old mate Harvey Norman has pointed out, as importers we are already 10% behind the eight ball as everything we import gets charged gst were as if an individual imports something below $1k value it is gst free.

So, sure buy stuff overseas now that the $ is on our side but beware, the danger is that if small businesses in Aust disappear then will be much much worse than having to pay higher prices.

so, there, that my soap box input.

donn ·

and a bloody good soap box it is lou0060, here's an example to check out, look at any shoping centre that has a fruit shop and a Woolworths or the like, the big fella drops his prices so all the customers forget the service the little fella gave and rush off to the big bloke till the little fella drops outa business, then the big fella has no competition so he raises his prices, magic, but who is the looser?

nils ·

You're totally right Donn, if I had the income and lived in a capital city I would do my best to support aussie business. But at this point thats the difference between driving my vw or having it as a long term project taking up space in the garage
Point I was trying to make is, that it's all good to talk about how bad parts can be to get hold of (and it true) but it's the nature of where we live, and I wouldn't trade it

Dasdubber - thats a great looking site by the way, will check out parts from you next I need something

I just had a experence with a well known racer in Australia, over a corse of about a week i emailed and phoned him twice each, he said he was different and would move on my enquiry, well today i have given up and will get my parts from CIP1, here is a copy of the email i have just sent him.
Hi XXX,
Sorry to have bothered you with my request for a set of sway bars for my car, you have not replied to any of my emails or phone calls indicating that you have a very good bussiness that requires no future growth, your real oposition is not in Australia but overseas, i was able to sorce the parts required and my emails were answered withinn 12 hours with very good freight costs, Regards,
XXXXXX XXXXXX
Just try to buy in australia, these people have not worked out that the service must be excellent, other wise people buy on price.

68AutoBug ·

Yes , they MUST try harder to stay on top of the Buy Overseas
syndrome ...
Some one who is nice on the phone and have a smile on their voice...
or friendly emails...

The BIGGEST problem We have is that most VW Parts Businesses in Australia don't have a lot of employees...

Many have only 2-3 employees...
Some are a One Man business...

which makes it kind of difficult to reply ASAP when someone has just ordered 20 or 30 parts or $500+ worth of parts and they want them ASAP...

so, the email asking how much for 10+ parts [or less[ just have to wait until the CONFIRMED and PAID for Order is picked, packed and posted...

Usually, I am never in a BIG hurry for any parts, as I try to have them on hand before I need them..
[sometimes about 1-2 years before I actually Use them... 😂

My thoughts... IMHO..

He'll probably tell you he sent it a few days ago - then 2 weeks later when you ring to find out what happened because it hasn't arrived, he'll tell you he sent it yesterday, and so on.

Don't expect an honest answer if you do get hold of him. Save yourself the grief in future and shop elsewhere.
