hi, is there any way to sucessufuly clean shoes covered in oil. thanks greg

13bwagon ·

mmm the right thing to do is replace them are they brand new?
i have seen them soaked in kero and cleaned with break cleaner

vw54 ·

better off replacing them

but you could wash in warm soapy water then rinse in metho

There is a specific cleaner in a pressure pack called Brakleen, a CRC product, works pretty well, you cpuld put them in a warm oven after you clean them to see if any more oil comes out of the brake linnings.

Does it work on clutch plates too?

AA003 ·

Remove and soak them in metho and set fire to them. Do not use kero. Use Brakeclean after as I doubt if it would work by itself.

shaihulud ·

Do not use kerosene it is oily.

Soak them in petrol for several hours and set fire to them several times.

If they still exude oil, get new linings.

It's worth a try.
