Sydney Jamboree

Hi All,

Who is coming to the Sydney Jamboree? Hope you're not all raced out after the VW Shootout a few weeks back. 😢

I've made some changes to the Modified Compact class as promised, and now full chassis vehilces 8 sec and slower can now compete.

This now gives the full chassis Vee Dubs a place to race. Don't forget the All Motor class too!

Our discounted drag racing entry is surposed to close at 6pm tonight but it'll stay open until Sunday night. $80 for a Street entry which gets the driver and 1 crew in. For ANDRA licence holders u can do a Competition entry for $130 which gets the driver and 3 crew in if you like.

Ray still loves his volksies that's for sure but what he has created just gets bigger and bigger!! Doesn't leave a lot of time for car tinkering!! He usually is at most vw events catching up with everyone and having a look at everyone's cars.

How's your car going? Or is it still got issues that need to be fixed? Been a while since the last update. Ready in time for Warwick?

Hey boys spoke to ray yesterday i've got him enter me.I haven't got a clue how i'm gonna afford to get down but theres a couple of weeks to sort that out.

Yeh should be ready for Warwick, got all the parts together just life getting in the way, also has allowed us to do a few things we didn't get a chance to do last time, not rushing it, just letting it evolve.

Any drastic changes or just some slight improvements on set up?

Just things like wheel speed sensors, oil pressure and a few other things the the new computor will allow especialy engine saving devices. Some big drain back lines from rocker cover to sump oh and did I mention the ally case and roller cam from pauter, shit and I'm trying to keep this on the street, apart from the clutch it should be quite drivable, others would disagree, I've crossed the line.

Ive entered street grudge cause I want to do a little bit of testing . I should have the new car arriving later this year so next year will be all out for the FWD record .

yep 3 more days of other peoples vws then "COLIDAYS"and off to sydney.

I really have my heart set on making it to this meet , but cant get focused at the moment .
I have the heads off the oval , have replaced guides , cut seats , refaced valves , refaced 1 head and will try to get into it tonight once again ..... the wind has gone out of my sails , but still keen to try !!
Dean drove up from Melbourne on friday and is helping me with great support .....

Home all packed up. No luck for me again!!!!! got some goog 60 foot times but. Very happy with the car ran!!!!

Henry , grate reaction light , out front but back off to much . Other gut ( Roy Argie) drove around him for the win .

Joe S (gas motorsport)was out front but got lose , had to back of .

Ben , I listen on live feed through Sydney track web site .
What sixty foot times ? Bars on .

did a 1.59. with the bars on. lifted them right up this time. felt really good when launching.Missed gears in my 2 qualifying runs then backed off to much in first round. Think i need a few TNT days to get some more practice in.

Great but tiring night. Personally, very dissapointed in the All Motor final (missed 2nd gear).
I out reacted Roy .070 to his .356 however there is about .5 seconds in a missed gear
Best E.T. - 11.778
Best mph - 114.94
Best Reaction - .030
Best 60' - 1.581
Now, if only I could get all these numbers together on one run!!!

Keep trying Henry you will get the hang of it one day .

Just home after a great weekend.....gotta love a road trip.

Congratulations to Henry for getting into the finals, only wish I (and others) hadn't missed it, was a long day and the PA wasn't too crash hot down where the dubs were. Also to Wayne and Chris for getting thier awesome 10 second cars onto the track and performing well. I hear the left hand lane was never the same again after Wayne peeled all the rubber from the start line.

Col ran well with a PB from the present setup, but I'll let him fill in the details.

Watched the video of that run and not just a huge wheelstand in first but second as well!! Plenty of hook up and some great driving by Wayne!!

Wayne may correct me, but I believe both wkeelies were in first gear, the front came up unexpectedly due to some last minute clutch mods, off the gas and back on it brought up the front a second time.....POWER ON DUDE 🙂

Back home sore but smiling,I got to the semis but unfortunatly broke out with a 13.43 on a 13.50..It was a great day of racing would have been nice to see a few more volksies racing, but that being said I don't think you could find a more hardcore bunch of racers and crew! Non of us were there to make up the numbers and it showed on the track!Got to say a big thanks to Matty B for being my crew guy not that we touched the car(Race track for racing/workshop for working)😉Daimo Pell and familly,Brad and Pauly from Westside(I'll show you guys how to use a broom)Steve Muller, Henry,Wayne,Chris,ben and everybody that was crewing thanks you guys are the best!And finally to Ray Box and the Jambo crew Thank you so much for your effort in putting on such a well organized Event it is an absolute joy to race at your events!Thanksagain Ray your the man!Can't wait for September!

thanks Rod , but I dont think it was the second hand cinter-iron disc that you sold me that made it hook up so viciously on my first pass . It was the stage-4 pressure plate with ductlie shoe that I spent an hour refacing on the milling machine friday afternoon .
After the first pass the clutch lost its edge and was a lot better off the line for the remainder of my passes , later running a 10.29@135mph on low boost .

Jamboree Finals:

had a great day at WSID after a very stressful week .... I didn't get time to dyno the oval after doing head repairs , so I decided to play safe and enjoy the day .
I ran the same tune as I had used 3 weeks before at the VWMA VW Showdown , but I removed the 21psi wastegate spring and fitted a 14psi wastegate spring to lower the boost .
The first launch caught me by surprise with the oval lifting the front wheels quite high .... I got off the throttle to get the front back down and as it came down got back onto it ..... to my surprise I was once again unable to see the track as the wheels had lifted again ..... all this happened in 1st gear which goes to show how well my 1st gear works as a 3.3 ratio with a 3.44 ring & pinion .
I still managed a first pass of 10.66@135mph , later running a 10.29@135mph
