This year we have racing Thursday and Friday . The racing is in memory of Ben Durie so it's going to be a big one, as it was one of his favorite tracks .

Yes u do need a cams lic . If u need one there $100 for a 12 months lic . Can buy it at the track

Thanks Jase. Im even more keen to give it a run too as it has been a long time between drinks since I ran it last. Kermit's EFI is now set up after being dynoed. All I need to do now is wheel align it, another spanner check and then test it/race it. Be good to catch up if you make it down. The old man will be coming up also.

Hey Luke, i`m trying to have my buggy ready for race day, but we`re still working on it so could you put me down as "tentative" for both thurs & fri please?

& if anyone has any problem with me bringing this thing down for the race, please just say so now ok? i`ll leave it here if anyone objects (too much) about it not being VW based... i can stick a Vee-dub badge onto it, or maybe change my gearshift knob to a VW one or something like that yeah??? :-)



& if it`s any consolation , i`ll be carrying it down there in the kombi-->



& my girl Marly said i can run the kombi at the track instead,,, if there`s any problems running the buggy that is :-)

I've just tested my car using some iPhone apps and I'm well over the 94DB limit being imposed....

I can't tow my car down and be knocked back on noise; what a waste. Old VW's are noisy there's no way around that...

Get an exhaust guy to test it properly. I think 96 dba is the RTA limit, why are our cars needed to be quieter?

Local council giving the raceway constant grief I believe steve....... CT had a post involving marulan track and used chicken wire in the exhaust as suggested by the track owner there, with some success.

I will try and dig up that thread later when I get home.

Bloody noise restrictions - they did that to me in the Vee the last time I raced at Lakeside. They pinged me at 105, so I put a token silencer in, they visually inspected it in the pits and let me back out again?! Since then I've put new ceramic pipes on with a larger stinger and they haven't said boo. Track car for Valla won't be the Vee, but the 'new' car might need some silencing....

Oh and steelo shoved in the pipe with a mesh net over the top is also good. Passes the test in the pit lane and then burns off by the end of the first lap!!

I thought cams rules use to be 96 dbs...

We should get the local hardware to sponsor us...in return for a role of chicken wire😂

Daimo the app is called " decibels " it had the best reviews

well we went over to the race track . checked out how loud the drifting was . most cars where turbo , so not that loud .
they where checking on the end of the first corner . i think 99% of vee dubs will be fine . maybe the vees .

Ran hillclimb at Raleigh Raceway yesterday, went 92dba with a base 1916 4 into 1 exhaust with 2 straight through mufflers. I would not consider my car loud and it only just scraped in, be aware there will be noise testing and it will be strict. Only one car was not allowed to run and a couple others had to do a bit to pass the test. The track was awesome fun and a bit wider in crucial areas with the addition of some concrete paving, 3 more sleeps.

Team WPVW has 2 drivers this year competing in the WPVW sports sedan . Dean Penrose and Ben Ford .

Dean and Ben have driven really well today and put themselves into 1st & 2nd place respectivly in the over 2-litre sports sedan class .

Dean has set a time of 1min 53.78secs for the 2 lap sprint and Ben Ford 1min 54.45secs . Quickest tintop today was Guy Harding in his turbo Golf-R all wheel drive 1min 52.6secs .

Top two days of Racing....Kids car went well!! Car was reliable for both days..
The car performed strong on (road goin tires )well done to my kid kept hes head on and always kept gettin hes times down...

Last lap of the day was on hes best PB but over cooked a corner.FIRST mistake all day😎...Prep is the key😎

Like to thank all who gave my bloke the thumbs up and advice thanks boys😎

well done Lachlan , I quietly watched you race all day yesterday & today and saw you steadily getting faster and faster . Your car also looked very good on the track and looked like it was handling very well .
Keep at it mate , you did very well !!

Had a great 2 days on the track improved my times with each run to a personal best on my last run a 203.21 . Pretty happy considering i didn't have a chance to test vehicle after the suspension and brake upgrades which i finished off tuesdays nite.

Thanks to all involved for a top 2 days.

more incar footage from WPVW , with Wayne Penrose at the wheel of the WPVW sports sedan showing the young fellas just how it is done . lol .

This is shown by the lap times of a blistering run of 1m 45.57sec which put the WPVW sports sedan at the top of the time sheets , even in front of all the open-wheelers with just 1 round of racing to go .

Amy in her injected type-1 open-wheeler came out on her next run and dusted my time with a 1m 45.38sec to take the title of outright quickest for the weekend by 0.19sec .

Ben Ford ended up 5th outright and 2nd quickest tintop sedan with 1m 51.16sec

Stan Pobjoy in his supercharged 1916 methanol injected open-wheeler did have another attempt but wasn't up to the task , leaving Stan with 3rd quickest outright .

I took some photos on the track over the two days. My aim was to give the racers something to frame on their wall. I tried to capture peoples faces and a full shot of the car while racing. Pics can be found here

As far as dry cleaning deliveries go, this guy is always right on time. 😀

That's the tightest track I've ever driven on.🙄.... Just wish the car had been more friendly. After finding the problem on Thursday afternoon [thanks go to Wayne Penrose for his 'diagnosis'], and gluing the broken intake manifold back together, Friday was much better. Although not running well, it was at least drivable. Thanks also to Wayne for kindly offering a drive of his car 👍.

As this was my first Valla [and hopefully not my last], I did not know what to expect. Unbelievably HUGE, and the Nambucca display was mind-boggling.

David ran his quickest on his last run @ 2.03.06 to be 21st outright..4th in class

I had a great day racing Bluey. Thanks to Luke, Daimo, Onion, Stephen, Wayne, Dave and all the other competitors and spectators, your all guilty of inspiration. I had a ball. I was sooo tempted to race again on Friday but was glad to enjoy it from the sideline, with a new perspective of the track, and a complete car to drive home in.
In all the years of enjoying Valla, I haven't competed in a driving event since the days of the motorkahna on the grass.
Bluey ran a 2.09 best on my third lap, as the times progressively improved, until the last lap when a front suspension adjuster decided to self adjust on the first corner.....from then on, I had all of about 30mm under the pan and found turning a little ....interesting.
