the Sabre is a restoration project with a 1600 I think, car and engine have no numbers

VWMA Editor ·

haccc ·

I picked it up at ballina with a rolls and a 924 porsche with XY0471 Plates😁

not drags but thinking about hillclimb

haccc ·

So just curious,..

Why was your 62 a disaster?

Good on you for bringing the sabre back to life.

👍

haccc ·

the 62's biggest problem was probably me but it was always stopping I had a lot of fun in it lost in in the ocean once. destroyed its second motor on the way to moruya theatre when herbie was screening and walked 20 miles home never to see the little bug again. After work and weekends I worked at the servo where my mechanical bill was till finally the boss put me through tech and got my mech(coff coff)anics ticket took me 2 years to pay the account off

Hmmm,.. yes,.. re-enacting the scene from herbie goes bananas where he drives out of the sea probably wasn't the best idea.😂

Hope this one goes better for you.

Good stuff.

haccc ·

smallest door ever

spent hours getting skin off to rebuild window workings

baghall ·

Haven't seen this kit before but I love the lines. Will look good when finished. Must keep an eye on this resto.

haccc ·

there was one for sale on gumtree at windsor running subaru not complete, and I have been told there is one in a car yard at penrith I think but not for sale. apart from the convertable magnum just sold in WA I know of no more but searching

haccc ·

all the front is painted

olovw ·

nice detailing man...

haccc ·

it will al be hidden when all the cover panels go in

groovy ·

i have one in my shed ,it has been waiting for me to get off my ass and start working on it 😂😂😂😂

haccc ·

mine was that colour once
beautiful

haccc ·

looks like I have to strip the front down again to get the fuel tank out, the repair didnt hold with heat and expansion

haccc ·

tried another repair style ,still waiting to test it. It gets a bit hot working in my open roof no walls shed

sinecure ·

Why hello there. Nice to see another DRB 🙂

haccc ·

Im thinking I need another fuel tank

Lucky Phil ·

Try a fueltank repair kit.
Seals it up from the inside.

haccc ·

Got a tank will inspect the inside and get some seal treatment stuff when I find out where I can get it from

haccc ·

I got the tank out yesterday for something that was clamped down with four bolts it was a lot off effort,

that is kit cars 🤪

haccc ·

the replacement tank is in and framework bolted in, just have to figure out how to stop water entering the tank through the key hole on fuel cap
as it sits horizontal on top of r/h front guard

haccc ·

well I guess the Sabre isn't ready for Valla ,sorry to those who where waiting, I changed jobs and only get one day off a week which is not necessarily at home
oh I did stop the water getting in the tank .I put a cover over the car 😂

haccc ·

well ,two and a half years later, I have restarted on my project. Sorting and cleaning and finding bits .
Now its just a matter of prioritizing and having some sort of plan
