Will let the photos do the talking, hoping to install a narrowed beam, it came with some disk brakes that were on it, and going to lower it, then enjoy it 馃槀

Yeh, only rust is in the bottom of the engine lid, and was left there intentionally. Other than that its just surface.

Yeh, was on ebay a little while ago.

Over the shoulder seat belts ordered from wolfsburgwest, should be ordering my beam & lowering kit this afternoon.
One thing I have been thinking is wether or not to run adjustable spring plates on the rear? I saw a thread recently on them, are they just plates that let you fine tune the height? Is it worthwhile?
The other thing I hear with regards to the rear suspension is "clicks" (one, two etc), is this refering to rotating the plate around a spline or something? Sort of need to learn this stuff if I'm going to do it, haha.

Beam is ordered, went with an Airkewld Lowering kit. 4" narrowed satin black beam should be here in a month or so 馃槑

Bit of an update.
In the last week I've broken a handbrake candle, broken a wheel lug and a brake retaining spring. I also found the the drivers side gearbox seal is shagged, aswell as that the links pins are frucked...
So unfortunately it looks like I have abit of work to do... on a lighter note all of my belts arrived today, and new beam should only be a week away 馃榾
toplessbug 路
brother---- the link pins are meyle and no more than 12 months old and greased at every service ,they are certainly not FRUCKED as you say. Tell me about the gbox seal ??? its a swinger and the boots are new , and please - how did you break the wheel lug ????????????
Allbones 路
You can shake the front drivers side wheel in 'n out about 1-2cms, passenger side isn't as bad but still moves noticeably. You can hear them clunk when you go around turns.
The rubber boot where the axle connects into the box is degraded terrible (see photo) and is leaking gearbox oil.
As for the bolt, we pulled the rear wheel off because it had a puncture and repair that, when putting the wheel back on the lug sheared when we torqued (120nm setting) the nuts onto the lug. It sheared at the bottom of the Allan key hole (this is what also drove the lug back into the brake drum and snapped the head off the retaining spring). note, the damage to the tread is just where we used vice grips to pull the lug out.
I'm not trying to be malicious or anything dude, but the fact of the matter is this stuffs rooted, whether its new or recently replaced makes no difference, they are still shagged.

New wheels & tyres ready to be fitted 馃榾
135/80r15 front 165/80 r15 rear.
matberry 路
A set of wheel bolts to suit those new wheels is on the way.... 馃檪
Should have included a pair of axle boots too 馃檨

Just reading more of your post Allbones....the link pins need to be adjusted on the inboard side. Loosen the pinch bolt and twist the linkpin with a 14mm spanner to tension to zero play, then grease. This should be done every service minimum with the front off the ground. Factory actually recommended every 1000miles. If play remains, it's either worn linkpins, kingpins or both.

Yeh, Cole mentioned that the other day when I grabbed the wheels off him.
The old girl will be getting abit of TLC on sunday so that will be on the cards aswell.
Small update, will organise photos when all is said and done.
Have a 4" narrowed beam and the like ready to go now, 2.5" drop spindles, new shocks all around. Also, running 15" smoothies.
Hoping to install everything over the next few weeks, will let you all know how I go 馃榾
oildrippa64 路
Cool ride. I also have a red 64 bug and am also considering an Airkewld 4" kit. Can't wait to see how it looks after you have fitted it.
Allbones 路
Rear dropped, 2 splines on the outter. New shocks in. Plates notched (1" at the deepest point). Also replaced the swing axel boots but the drivers side drum hasnt stopped leaking since we lowered it 馃檨 not sure what i would have done to cause it.
She still has to settle down, I havent driven her yet. Little concerned as the external oil filter line is really close to the rear wheel, may need to relocate/juggle some lines around.
Shes also on abit of a lean to the back as the front is still stock height, will hopefully be doing the beam tonight/tomorrow and have it ready for this weekend 馃榾
Allbones 路
So its back on all fours now! New beam & shocks are in, all that needs to be done is to bleed the brakes, replace the rear wheel bearings (figured we would do it while we have it apart) and adjust the brakes/hand brake and shes all good to go.
It hasnt been driven yet so the ass still has to settle a little bit but hoping it will be nice and level once it does.
8cm at the lowest point so far, will make for an interesting daily driver, haha.

looks great man, ya takin her ta dubs?

Honestly, I really wanted to, then I didnt have it done in time for the 17th.
Then they changed the date and I got all excited, accept then I realised it was the same weekend I'll be in sydney 馃檨 haha.
Will definately make the cruise down for Das Resto open house though.

Small update.
Had the car back on the road for a month now. Loving it, achieved exactly what I wanted, a car I want to drive everyday (and do) and not get out of.
The ride is rough, but thats to be expected at this height, and really, its ipswich city council's fault for not maintaing the roads 馃槀
Next will be sorting out some small alterations to the interior, other than that the next big job will be the engine and box, but that wont be for a while yet.
Cheers, Johnny.

Haha, far from stupidity man, some thread are just too long or tedious to read through, haha
Nangkang for the 135's and not sure on the back.
Nangkang are pretty much the only 135's I could find.

Not a great deal to update on. Managed to grenade a wheel bearing on the way back form Dubs at the abbey, it was only 6 weeks old so I'm assuming I installed it incorrectly. None the less thats replaced and shes back on the road. Here is a picture of here from the Abbey, was a really great day, look forward to future shows like it.
