today i picked up a rusty dented complete shell of a country buggy.
i'll do a build blog on here in the future, but for now it will be stored, i think i'll do it after my 16" syncro is on the road.
VWJon,
Its good to see this come come out from the shed. It has been lying on its side for way to long and it will need a bucketload of TLC to get it back on
the road. Well done.

hi bill, did you get my PM's?
i was worried about the condition of the side that was laid in the dirt, it was the other side, its only slightly worse than the side in the pics.
i think i'll throw it on a modern floor pan with modern running gear etc to start off with, then retro restore it as i go along!
can anyone give me a rough idea of do's n dont's with a country buggy?
i just want to say a huge thanks to Ant who gave me heaps of help getting this home!
today i found some new old stock genuine Hella tail lights and front indicators, (tail lights have chrome trim not black as there are no black ones
left)
does anyone know what all the holes in the body are for?
the 4 on the right of the pic are for the numberplate light, 2 in the center of the pic are for the number plate, but the other group of 6???
six on each rear panel, but only 3 are for the tail lights
what are these holes for? there are 4, 3 have cover plates, (i need another one)
I'm sure that concrete was not origionally part of the car, but still an interesting repair!
the floor pan is totally shot, i think its been a beach car. we flipped the CB on its side, cleared out about 7Kg of crap from the corners etc, the
sills are as bad as i expected, its in quite good condition considering its recent past.
after a good coat of looking at we moved the shell and dropped it onto a spare rolling floor pan i have lying about. i think i'll take it over the
pits next week!!

would it be wrong??? i managed to pick up a pair of type three nipple indicators, i just checked i could easily modify them to fit the CB.
To me it is never wrong to get a CB back on the road in whatever state or livery that the owner desires.
What is wrong is for the vehicles to sit in sheds or on their sides in storage waiting for a restoration that in many cases never occurs.
There are way too many "gunnas" out there for my liking.

well i dunno what happened there.
here are a couple of pics i took the other day,
the bonnet needs work and hard wear, shouldnt be too hard, (Ignore the caddy guard)
the rear interior panel is interesting, some rust, but salvageable!
the windscreen surround is a worry, its badly out of shape, creased where the wipermotor mounts, and quite rusty!
i think i'll be on the lookout for another!
Thanks to Barls for tidying up the thread.
Yes, I would rather be doing the front bonnet than the windscreen surround. I will keep an ear out for anything that comes up over in the west that
may make life a little easier. There is some very serious work in front of you otherwise.
There are a few folks who are parting out CBs who may have something you need. PM me with a list if required

Today i picked up a pair of bug slope headlamps, ($40- bargain!) ones bosch the other is hella, but i'm not doing detail just yet.
i also modified one of the early type3 nipple indicators, its mounted in the same holes as the origional so the spec must be right. in all honesty i
really dont know why VW didnt do this from the start ($$$?) so the other will follow soon.
anyone whos thinking this guys crazy doing lights when theres a bucket full of rust holes in this car, well i'm just doing it when i have a spare
10mins. it'll be full on when my syncro's done!
