Hi all, just thought id share my experience with using Bongo international to ship parts from U.S to AUS.
I purchased a full rubber kit through a U.S supplier who wont ship outside U.S,hard to beleive considering the economy there.
they shipped to bongo fake address , it arrived in 7 days with tracking at a cost of $35 aus.
Bongo informed me it was there and cost to send to me in 3 days was $260 AUS it weighed 35 pounds.
so costings were $410 for rubber kit , $35 in US freight and $260 ship and ins to AUS. Total $705 landed in 3 days.
A combination of brazil and german door seals etc , same quoted price here $1000 plus
reason for order , was at the recent Day of Volkswagon and asked a supplier there to put together the same kit as I was ready to spend some $1500 with
him on the day.
well 4 hours later and he was more interested in selling $10 items and chit chatting. Hence I made the order when I got home.Have heard nothing but
bad feedback from others about this supplier so its his loss.
I do however highly recomend George @ Classic Vw , top bloke but he couldnt match the price.
Anyone else buy U.S?
All the time, this would work well as some of the shops in the US, sometimes advertise free shipping withinn the States, a good saving as well with the initial cost being less that half the purchase price in Australia, your story sound familar to me about the reseller, have had similar experences.
So... is that good?
I need to assess freight forwarding to get some stuff from rockauto in the U.S. They do ship internationally but the postage is horrific even for
small things. They actually have parts for our Fairlane. Well, for a 95 Mustang 5.0 (Cobra?). Parts that would come to about $1k here will cost me
On bongo web site you can get a quote for frieght prior to purchase, put in destination then weight of item and it will tell you how much . the price was excact on my purchase so you wont be alarmed with a differant price once you place an order.
