Found this on another site so did a copy and paste, looks like an adventure.
Story or description of news: Happy Xmas and a great new year to you all
If anyone remembers 1963 Lightburn Zeta cars or the 1964 Ampol Trial and the Donald Campbell world record attempts can you please help me.
I own one of the Lightburn Zeta Rally cars from the 1964 Ampol Trial and she is 50 years old this September.
Do you remember this car and the other cars from the 1964 Ampol Trial and were you at lake Eyre with Donald Campbell when he came to Australia in 1963
and 1964?
I plan to drive my Zeta rally car back around the 1964 ampol trial course 7000 miles, 50 years on if we can find a few more of the original Trial cars
or similar cars to travel mensshed to mensshed and some of you might like to come along this time to raise money and awareness for Menssheds , Beyond
Blue , Spina Bifida, and other charities, as we celebrate the men and women who made and drove these old Micro cars back when I was a 6 year old just
arrived from England to Adelaide.
I have been putting history pictures and telling the stories of my cars restorations on youtube for about 4 years now so that you can find the
pictures and histories as well as drive the cars for this unique project.
Please take a look at my many videos at robin heath on youtube to learn what I am doing and if you can help with driving or organising this historic
event then you can contact me ay robinheath57@live.com or you can phone me on xxxxxxxx over the next 2 weeks while I am in Adelaide.
If you know anyone who was involved with the 1964 Ampol Trial I would very much like to hear from you as this opportunity will only ever happen once
in a lifetime and I would be very disappointed to think that I was the only person in the world who gives a dam about our past Mototoring history with
my little Zeta and there must surely be some folks who remember Donald Campbell as he is the only man in history that achieved both Land and water
speed records in the same year and that all happened in Australia. With the help of Harold Lightburn and Zeta cars.
For me Donald Campbell, Bluebird, K7 and Lightburn Zeta cars all fit into the same status of history as I have owned the prototype Zeta Sports car for
nearly 35 years and know the story of lightburn involvement in the world records.
So how about helping me with a big story and adventure with one of Australias smallest Rally cars to remember the time when we were at the top of
motoring technology.
Hope this inspires you to find a car, some friends, and a suitable Charity to drive for like my 50 year old Zeta Works Rally car with 62,000 miles on
the clock, it will be a big challenge. Yes!, but worth the effort, as I will be recording our memories and experiences, for our great grand children
as we go, so that when we are all gone and the cars are left behind, there will be many youtube, and facebook stories for them to see who we were,
what we did, what we thought about our past history, as well as what we think about the future. just like a time capsule on the internet for all to
see.
I can post the link, but I'll check with the author first.
