I have a pair of shorts like Mal! come to stockton on australia day, I'll wear them for you
donn - January 19th, 2013 at 12:13 PM
great times, we used to get the retreaders to scrub all the tread off the case so we could get nice soft round tyres oh yeah, i also have some shorts like that.
BTW why would you want to wear a skid lid, bloody fairies only wore those, but we did wear gogles to keep the sand out of our eyes (no not the type
you wear snorkeling you clown ! )

Next Hillclimb meet i attend i,m going to tell the scrutineer that i don,t where a helmet because it restricts my vision.
Cheers Col

How about telling the scrutineer you don't run front brakes because they effect steering and are therefore dangerous

Not only that, Col.....a helmet could cause over-temperature of the brain, which could seriously effect your ability to drive safely.

Some fantastic footage. I certainly hope they keep Stockton Dunes open and don't close them up.
I wonder if any of these buggies till survive today? And if any of them still get used?
Smiley
donn - January 19th, 2013 at 05:42 PM
If they get used it's not at Stocko, unless illegaly, any vehicle on the dunes these days has to be road registered as I understand it.
vw54 - January 19th, 2013 at 06:22 PM
Pity we had to use the sand dunes at Kurnell in Sydney for building I can remember going out there in the 70s n doing similar stuff
great footage

BrisDubba - January 20th, 2013 at 11:03 PM
I looked at that clip and then a few associated ones, and bugger me there was footage about offroad racing back in the day and bugger me around the
racetrack comes an old offroad racer that I used to own and now owned by bluebaja..
beachbuggy61 - January 21st, 2013 at 08:44 AM
Classic! I used to won one of those many years ago. Bought it from a guy called Tony King who'd built it for racing.
So much fun! And being able to scream up the bush tracks to get out to the beach before they made a nice neat road.
Would love some of those tyres for the baja. From memory the ones on mine were off a Cessna!
Mmmm, individual steering brakes. Made climbing dunes easy but was hell on the diff.
Thanks for the vid, great memories.
