So,...
I found this advert whilst reading through an old 1960's VW Mag.
My question is,..
How do you cut that hole without needing to repaint???
i guess its like those folks who put a green door on a red car.... respray not necesarry!!!
it might mean "whole car" respray? only the roof section.
Heh - love the "increased car value" claim... definitely not the case now !!!

LOL, thats hilarious.
Back in the 1950's I suppose there might have been the appeal to give your old car a facelift.
I wonder if they ever sold one?
there is a photo (I'm sure Joel posted) that shows a garage with a metre high pile of oval and split rear window cuts that were from conversions
I will dig round and see if i can find it
My Dad worked at a used car dealers back in the early 60s... he swearss he saw Ovals back in the late 58's that had larger windows put in.
Plus there's the "make the rear window larger" ad.

Hi
In the 70s when I started driving bugs, people were always trying to give me Ovals.
I had a 63 Austerity model and I always thought why would I want an older bug, slow motor, no synchro on 1st etc.
One friend wanted me to take away his mums old oval, it had a push button starter
Boy was I dumb.
Steve
oh I feel sick
those oval remind me of that cars we have now. tiny back non existent window that can't see shit though and improved by have golf club looking
plastic head rests in the way
oval would be an improvement on what
we have now coz there is nothing in the way of the view ![]()

If you can cut them out and fit a bigger window it goes without saying that you could also fit a piece similar to the cutout into a large window bug
and make it look like an oval or a split.
Seen it done with an oval made to look like a split window.
ask grumble i know he did a few.
