Heads Up - Nationals Supersprint, Wakefield
amazeer - February 5th, 2013 at 09:29 PM

Paperwork submitted to CAMS today, hopefully they will turn it around a lot quicker than the hillclimb paperwork I just ran.

In any case you will have at least 3 months to get your entry in. If you arent entered a week before the event you will pay a $30 late fee as was the case last year. The first couple of years you called my bluff because I am a sweetheart, last year you paid and the shock was evident on some faces and tones of voices. It makes it easier for me if entries are in early. If you are struggling to get your car ready in time, enter anyway. If you withdraw before the day you will get your money back. When it is easy for me, it is better for you, the racing will start earlier and be better organised. Pre entrants also go into the draw to win their entry fee back (as per last year).

A couple of things that will be different this year based on feedback from last year. 2 major issues getting cars on track on time, 1 your fault, 1 my fault.

Firstly, in accordance with the above, there will be 3 queues at checkin. If you are pre-entered, paid up, have your CURRENT licence and CURRENT club member card you will go into the priority one gold class express line and you get ticked off in 30 seconds. Go grab a coffee. If you are pre entered, paid up but are doing your licence or membership on the day you will go into business class queue. It will take you a little longer. If you dont have everything in order when you get to the front of either of those queues then you will be sent to cattle class. You will get served once all the people who have done the right thing have been served. You may or may not get out on track on time. Its the fairest system I can think of. Let me know if you have other ideas.

Secondly, the colour grouping for your car will be attached to your entry form. The scrutineers wont be making it up as they go. It will be based on your previous years times or a best estimate based on similar cars. There will be running order sheets at the tower and at scrutineering. That way everyone will know when they are due to go out. Hopefully I wont cop gobs of abuse first thing that ruin my day.

So yeah, keep an eye out for paperwork in the next few days hopefully. I think we should have all bugs ironed out and it will be the best ever. I may not have any nuts left because that is the week of my wife's 40th, but we'll see how we go. Nothing gets in the way of VW's and car racing.

amazeer - February 20th, 2013 at 06:08 AM

I'll be at WSID on Saturday if anyone wants to bring entries / cash. Shouldn't be too hard to find the white polo with body kit in my sig.

turboty - February 23rd, 2013 at 04:27 PM

So what is this? An open race day? How is the day run, can I bring my convertible 911 kit car?

1303Steve - February 23rd, 2013 at 05:58 PM

We can also race in the wet................

grinderman - February 25th, 2013 at 04:06 PM

My son wants to race his near stock 2002 1.4l polo, can he purchase a CAMS licence on the day? What else would he need besides helmet?

turboty - February 25th, 2013 at 11:17 PM

So I dont need a roll cage? It does already have a hoop that is reinforced.

vw54 - February 26th, 2013 at 02:57 PM

No you dont need a roll cage but its a good safety item if fitted to your car

HappyDaze - February 26th, 2013 at 04:17 PM

I don't think you would be able to run at Wakefield Park in an OPEN car, without some form of roll-over protection.

amazeer - February 27th, 2013 at 11:37 PM

Go here to read ALL the info follow the links to all you should ever need including a link at the bottom which explains what a supersprint is. http://www.clubvw.org.au/2013supersprint

If the car is road registered you dont need a rollcage. If you DO have a roll cage it must be CAMS approved. If its not approved you may not be able to run. Stupid rule, but I dont make em. If you DO have one and it IS CAMS approved then it must be 50mm above your helmet when you are seated normally. Stupid rule... uh huh. A road reg car without a cage is eligible, road reg car with one is potentially not. It will depend on how many hours sleep a scrutineer has had.

amazeer - February 27th, 2013 at 11:45 PM

You can get your licence on the day but bring your already completed form and photo with you.

All money paid on the day must be cash. There is no eftpos available. If you dont leave something of substantial value as security then cant accept cheques either.

PAZZAN - February 28th, 2013 at 07:57 PM

what if you have a road registered buggy with a roll cage all road legal does that pass for the day??????

turboty - February 28th, 2013 at 08:51 PM

Can one driver enter more than one car? What would the extra cost be?

MISS VDUB - March 1st, 2013 at 09:06 AM

Hey Guys, Chris is just having some login issues at the moment so he's asked me to post this on his behalf...

"Should be OK, we've had buggies run before

Can have a maximum of 2 drivers per car. Entry fee is per driver."

Can 1 driver have 2 cars?

amazeer - March 5th, 2013 at 11:00 PM

Thanks Ash.

Nobody has ever asked about running 2 cars before. You would have to check with Club VW committee but I would imagine it to be two payments. I dont recommend you try. Jim Richards is the only person I have seen who can really pull off driving 2 cars at the same meeting. Logistically you would probably find that it is impossible to get your full run quota. You cant be out on track in one group and at the same time be lined up in pit lane ready for the next group.

HappyDaze - March 6th, 2013 at 04:44 AM

You would obviously need 'someone' to get the other car to the track. They could have the 2nd car lined up, ready for you to jump in, and go.

Who would drive home?......You'd be to buggered.:)

HappyDaze - April 18th, 2013 at 07:26 PM

Chris, you may need to re-classify my No.8 Beetle. Hope to have the 'new' 2276cc motor [ex Ben R.] by then.

lou0060 - April 18th, 2013 at 08:33 PM

Hi Chris, I did mine on line last week, can you check it went thru ok, I did get the email reply saying it had gone thru. thanks, Lou

amazeer - April 18th, 2013 at 09:25 PM

Hi Lou, you also need to send me through a paper entry form.
