I am not sure what year it is, I haven't got to the chassis number yet. It has come in for a quote on full restoration.
It is a very early kombi in pretty good condition. It has no rust holes underneath. The only holes on the outside are LHF lower nose panel, LH sill
under side doors and front of LH quarter. There is no rust holes in the roof, inner sills, outriggers, battery tray, doors etc.
It has no back upper tailgate, and the engine lid is a big square with the spare wheel on top. The wheels are 16 inch and it has no indicators, only
semaphores.
The only damage is the bottom of one of the cargo doors. The floor inside has no rust, and all inside paint is original. The outside paint is not
original as the bus is originally blue, and the outside has been painted two tone red/white.
Last registered 1973
The rechroming part of the restoration is simple. 4 handles and two headlight rims. The paint stripping is the expensive part. $5000 to have it soda
blasted inside and out and garnet blasted underneath.
any og paint under the old respray as would be shame to lose the orig blue ...oven cleaner

i know the bus well, its a 54, i cant believe ricks sold it, lovely old darl
Why would Rick sell it? I suppose money talks
I wonder if the new owner is interested in fitting a Turbo Suby engine?
The new owner wants a genuine resto with all the right bits. I spent the day today pulling the bus apart. A lot of it is pretty good. Not much rust, and all complete.
Love the saf windows in the front.. nom nom nom
Factory safaris too.
This bus is originally a dark dirty grey/blue colour. Anyone know what the original colour for a '54 bus in this colour would be called?
