ROO SHOOTER..NEW WORLD RECORD HOLDER
Kombi_Rescue - February 26th, 2013 at 02:03 PM

ROO SHOOTER....is the new world record holder in its class after a successful event on the salt flats in Sth Aust. The new class record for F/CPRO is 117.8 mph this was achieved using type 4 power plant of 2.7 .

After 2 years of false starts the Ratmuller race team finally got our 57 kombi on the salt and ripped up the old record of 100.3 mph, the reception was fantastic ....the old girl is ready for Day of the Drags this weekend at Eastern Creek.

Good work guys!!
That would be a lot of fun.

Over what distance do you run?
I think I would need around 2 ks or more to get through my 6 gears but that's on tar, no calculations.
If I reached 8000rpm in 6th it should see 218 mph (353kph) with a rev limit of 10000. With well over 700hp
But I don't think i have the balls!!!!

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - February 27th, 2013 at 08:52 AM

Need to do some work on aerodynamics Aaron at that kind of speed lol

Call on crazy col and his roll of aerodynamic tape!! Hahaha

dangerous - February 27th, 2013 at 10:23 AM

Well done Steve!

I think Aaron has speeding ticket with faster speeds than that.
Does that count as a "record"?

HappyDaze - February 27th, 2013 at 11:23 AM

Different sort of "record".

Kombi_Rescue - February 27th, 2013 at 03:00 PM

Thanks guy's....the rotary bus would be in a different class to start, 700hp will be scary stuff compared to our 180hp. the world record stands for 2-3 litre engined powered cars...we now hold this record...Arrons will compete against other bigger engined cars BUT would be sooooo cool to have 2 kombi's hold world records...let you know what speed you need to beat. We also hold title to the fastest vw aircooled powered vw bus in the world, that record stood at 109mph..we have offered a $250.00 cash prize for someone to top this on the salt whether it be here or in bonnieville....so get that big block aircooled ready cheers steve

vassy66T1 - February 27th, 2013 at 05:05 PM

Peter the regs are very much a pain in the arse.....nothing that cams approve work for the DLRA as we must follow the yanks for some reason.....you can own a v8 super car front seat that is capable of 300+ BUT you must use a alloy seat ....go figure . The whole process is a bit of a pain espeacially if you build a car that you want to use in various forms of motor sport. Happy to share info with anyone who is thinking of running this event next year cheers steve

HappyDaze - March 1st, 2013 at 07:15 AM

You're right there, Steve......The DLRA scrutineers 'knocked back' my brand new CAMS approved helmet, because it didn't have a Snell mark. Eventually, when the chief scrutineer saw the CAMS manual [luckily I took it along], that showed the equivalent standards, all was OK.

Indeed, I've carefully read my way throught the DRLA regs and still haven't managed to clear some significant doubts; however, I can see why the Roo Shooter was a good choice of platform for F/CPRO. Well done.
