Door hing pin replacement in Brisbane
70 Jafa - February 28th, 2013 at 10:21 PM

I would like to replace at least the top door hinge pin (drivers door) on my 1970 Beetle, so I am either after someone I can pay to replace it for me or someone that will lend/rent me a pin puller and possibly a reamer. I do not want to repaint the hinge/door so I am after a tool like Roger at Southside borrow last year to do Craig Hugh's Beetle, have spoken to Roger, he can not get a hold of the tool again. Any suggestions, ideally Brisbane Southside, or someone that is prepared to send.

Thanks Rob

The easiest way to get a door pin out is to use a air chisel.Grind a tool to suit the job .

Keep asking Rob

I'm sure there would be someone with the VW hinge tool around Brisbane...??

they can be replaced without damaging the paintwork if done carefully...
using that tool or a copy of it...

Those original hinge pins are VERY TIGHT.... and need a lot of force to push them out....
