A passer by commented today " fixing it again"....
"Well no, just tinkering" I replied.
Got me thinking about what all the other VW freaks were up to as well.
Sooooo...... What did others get done today?.... Add a quick run down and add a pic if you like each time you get something done, be it big or small,
routine service or turbo and EFI.
Today I was playing on the stocka. Changed a stuffed tie rod end for a newie,Greased the front end after wading through knee deep water in this weeks
floods, pulled and rebuilt the windscreen wiper
assembly happily knowing that would stop the rain, adjusted the brakes and rotated the tyres and fixed a leaking muffler flange.
What about you?
finished pulling the motor out of the circut bug. Getting it ready for the supersprints. Will begin stripping it tomorrow
Readied No. 8 Beetle for Wakefield Park at Easter.

Did you get across?

Nope. Because I was by myself I opted not to get possibly stuck. But if I had someone else there to pull me out I would have given it a crack I would have tried going around to the right in the first photo, but the
water was deeper then expect and the bottom was quite soft and boggy, it would have been interesting
I have a winch sitting at home that I need to fit up the the Baja. It would be handy in times like this when I'm out exploring by myself.

Looked at the bug and ghia through the shed window.
Pulled the Dells to pieces and got the crap out of them
They been intermediatley popping and farting, running on 3 cylinders and I had been thinking it was water in them or something
Pulled the idles cleared them and she would run again - but then it would come back
So - pulled them and opened them up and got some gunk out
My neighbours think I am an idiot
They just dont get old cars

Oh and cleaned out the kombi after camping in it all weekend. :
Sold it
vacuumed the inside and attached a battery charger
Removed the rubbish after our Saturday night cruise, and drooled a little bit on my new engine.
Took the dogs for a drive to Sandgate and let them remove some energy along the waterfront. Cruised home then decided to use it again tonight and
upset some bloke in his fully hectic 6 cylinder Turbo diesel Patrol with blow off valve, dump pipe out the side. didn't want me to get in front of
him as I had to take the next street to the right so I had to run 2nd gear to redline and pulled 3 odd car lengths on him. So he decided to give me
his HID's on full power lol
Guess he got upset hahahahahaha
Apart from that clutch is starting to slip a lil, and gearbox is getting noisier. Might be new engine and box time.......
took the little fellow out to a car show.

Yeah happy days matt.
Looks good Reubs!
I discovered the other day that I had no headlights - either high or low beam.
Checked fuses & steering column plugs etc. (didn't think it would be these, as I would still have some lights), so I figured it had to be
somewhere at the relay block, which is inside my centre console.
So, I had to remove my passenger seat & gear shift to get the console out so I could get at the wiring properly. Only took me a minute to find a
wire from the fuse box to the relay block that had broken the connection off one end - the connections on each end were corroded, a legacy of when I
had a windscreen washer hose break and spray windscreen washer fluid all over the back of my fusebox & the relay block in Tamworth about 20 years
ago. Since then, things started corroding very quickly - I cleaned it all a few times, especially immediatly after, and over the years have had to
replace quite a few relays, connections, etc. This was one that had not been done yet.
Only took a few minutes to make up & fit a new wire, then I had to re-fit the rest of the car interior. It is all a goer again now.
Noticed that I had no indicators or brake lights on the wench, they were working fine yesterday morning but went for a spin in the afternoon and their cactus, easy fix, new fuse, the second time this has happened in 6 months so I've got some problem there but stuffed if I can locate it. Best cure at the moment is to carry spare fuses.
pulled the fuel tank out of the Sabre
or was that dismantle the sabre till I had a fuel tank left
Jump started and drove around in the rain
Put the interior back in, pressure cleaned off the flood mud underneath, gave it a tub and some exterior rubber shine.
5 year old folded down the rear seat and made a cubby house in there
In the shed ready for a polish tonight after the F1
Neighbor will cruise it this week while her jeep gets fixed
Walked past it
