Stuck on the side of the rd! Not going to be home soon, wife not happy!
vvwbeetle - March 13th, 2013 at 05:04 PM
Thought I'd take the car to the office today, hadn't driven it for 10weeks,
Now sitting the side of the rd not driving!
Fan belt decided it was going to break.
Hoping a mate is coming to the rescue.
Wife not happy that I won't be home soon and she has to look after both kids and get them off to sleep.
Somebody is sleeping in the kennel that is as long as the dogs don't kick me out as well

And what are you buying tomorrow? A spare fan belt and a flea collar

Well on the plus side we all know to get the new one on all you gotta do is fire it up and throw a screw driver at it, bam! belt on

Thanks guys,
A mate that lives close by managed to get me a belt after hrs, and came to my rescue, I'm just glad I noticed it straight away, no damage done.
Got home and the wife was not happy!
Trying to diffuse the matter, before the words " time for it to go" come out of her mouth.
Kids bathed, dishes done, just about to make a cuppa and give some chocolate. Hopefully all that helps!

Lucky You noticed the broken belt/ alternator light come on..
I always carry two spare belts.. just in case...
as the alternator or generator belts aren't expensive..
[glad I don't have a fancy belt]
back in the 50s and 60s You always saw a spare belt sitting in the centre of the spare wheel..
I don't know if they came with the car when new but they were always there..
after not driving it for 10 weeks...!!!!
women just don't understand... lol
Hope the Dogs understand... lol
cheers

Dad said his '59 came with a spare belt when he picked it up from the dealer, and they used to check it was there and what shape it was in at each
service !!!
Two things I know with the belts:
- always carry a spare AND the tools to change it
- good, better, Bosch. I had two brand new Gates belts fail in two weekends driving (ok... events)... now had 4 really big weekends on a single Bosch
with no probs.
Two things I know with women and VW's:
- women are more fun, but cars are more reliable long term
- I've had my VW now for 20 years, and she's more fun now than when I first got her... never yet kept a woman that long, and never heard of a woman
become more fun with years !!!
Plus they're making new women all the time so you can always update/upgrade (within moral, ethical and legal standards)... while VW stopped making
Beetles a few years back now and the options are geting more and more limited all the time...
