Daily driver insurance
Avignon - March 15th, 2013 at 05:33 AM

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of using my 91 T25 Caravelle as a daily driver in the Sydney area.

I've made enquiries to Shannons - they only insure your vehicle if it's NOT used as a daily driver.....

Who do you you comprehensively insure your vehicle with ?
Anyone have any suggestions or can share their experience ?

Cheers
Tom

I have my 75 L bug daily driver insured with Shannons, as well as my wifes 05 Bora daily driver.

My daughter has her 2012 Mazda 6 daily driver with Shannons.

I think you may have had bad advice.

Yeah - I call bullshit.

I have my the HSV ute that's my daily insured with Shannons no probs.

The TV ad they have with that tool and his Coupe4 going on about not being a car club guy, having a great mechanic etc. even says they'll insure your daily !!!

My suggestion... call 'em between 10:00 and 11:00am... much better chance of getting someone in Aus, and they generally know they'r stuff. (Indian guys clock on about 2:00pm)

agree with sides, had the bug insured with them for over 10 years as a daily driver.
have the golf with them as well.

Yes Shannons have changed their policies in the past 10 years..

originally they were only for vintage classic cars

had to be old, no new cars..

and couldn't be driven daily...

They Now insure everything....

What would an indian guy know about old classic cars???
apart from the Morris Oxford made by Mahindra for the last 40 years...lol

My experience with Shannons is about 40% of them a dickheads that no nothing about cars.
I have been knocked back for insurance a few times and I tell them not to bother and ring back in 5 minutes and get through to someone good and it is all sorted within minutes.
Not even asking for someone who knows about vintage vw's helps as they all say they do.
Just try again - oh, and yes they would insure me as a daily.

My '65 Beetle is insured as a daily driver with Shannons in the Sydney area and has been for the last four years. It was initially with GIO before they stopped insuring old cars, and sent my policy to Shannons.

Go to their website and get a quote, and then give them a call.

Last time I rang them to ask a question I found out that the GIO is their cover company.

Try Lumley
Guy at work got a real good deal for his Torana..(Yes its not a VW).
He was reffered there by a Mini club member who also recommends them.

Yep, I think I've had bad advice from someone at the time when I rang them before.
Will try again on Monday. Shannons it is by votes. :tu:

My 68 bug is under NRMA Vintage and veterans insurance. $18,000 agreed value. probably the worst driving record on this forum, under 25, still on green Ps. $450. a year full fire theft.

not bad at all.
