Hi All,
Issue#38 of VW Magazine Australia has been printed and a preview can be found at http://www.vwma.net.au
An 8 page feature on team WPVW will go some way I hope to satisfying the lack of drag racing action following the postponement of the drags until
June, while the Yokohama show in Japan provides an insight into the vibrant VW culture in the land of the rising sun.
My '63 Beetle project "Dollars & Sense" is also completed in this issue, and for the Type lll fans I now start my '68 Squareback project.
Chris Askounis' sweet streeter Notch was a worthy early Type lll for the feature cover story.
My dabbling with 70s water pumpers continues with a B1 Passat variant added to my stable, and Peter Jones' Mk1 Golf Kamei replica racer is a work of
track art.
On sale date is May 1st.
Cheers
Craig
One more thing before i head off to the workshop to play - sydney online entries for the vwma drags on june 29th are now open.
Do we have to re-enter????
Nope. All entries for february are automatically rolled over to june. It would be good to break the 100 mark to secure the event. Spread the word - stock to full on race car - all welcome, good VW day out.
Great Job Craig as alway's on the Mag,
looking forward to getting it.
Looks great Craig, looking forward to it.
It's interesting to see what type of VW the 'main' cover car has been over the 38 issues (for example, a Type 3 Sedan in the upcoming one). Since
issue #1, the results have been:
1. T1 Kombi (split window) - 12 times
2. 58-67 Beetle - 7 times
3. Type 1 Karmann Ghia - 5 times
4. Superbug - 4 times
5. Pre-58 (oval) Beetle, Type 3 Sedan, Type 3 Karmann Ghia - 2 times each
6. T4 Kombi, Porsche 356, VW hot rod, Beach buggy - 1 time each
Looks like Craig loves split Kombis - 12 from 38 is almost one on the cover every third issue!
Some Aussie-sold VWs that have not yet been 'main feature' on the cover of VWMA include the 68-71 1500 Beetle, 70-75 1300 Beetle, 1976 1600 Beetle,
Country Buggy, Type 3 Fastback, Type 3 Squareback, 68-79 T2 Kombi (any), 80-92 T3 Kombi (any), Golf (any), Passat (any), or any other water-cooled VW
(except for the T4 that was on issue #9). So if you have one of these, please send Craig your story and photos!
Awesome job on the mag.. cheers, Chris
