Lost VIN
Buddman - April 26th, 2013 at 04:55 PM

What can be done if the VIN plate is missing?

The car has been resprayed sometime in the past but there is no VIN plate. Does that mean it can't be registered or can something be done.

The body is in great condition and it would be a waste if it can't be on the road again.

Hi

What model is it, a lot of early cars didn't have them

Hi Steve,

It's a mid 1960s model, the chassis is 1966, I presume the body is too.

They don't have them.

Your vin number on 60's beetles is under the rear seat on top of the tunnel just in front of the inspection plate for the gearbox linkage

Thank you for the help.

That is what I always thought but I was told that it needed to have a VIN plate to get registered in Qld.

Thanks again,

Adam

I too am curious to know this. I'm looking at a 60s bug at the moment. No vin plate.

VIN = Vehicle Identification Number or Chassis number, under the back seat, not an issue, qld or anywhere else. If someone is telling you there is a problem, they have no idea.
