I need help, the federal police have locked my computer! Even
though I have a virus protector it seems ( no I have definatly) got a virus of some sort on my PC, the screen has been locked with supposedly a notice
from the Australian Federal Police stating that I have done several things breaking Australian internet laws ( all very official looking) and
supposedly the only way I can unlock the screen is to pay a $100 fine within 72 hours and then it will be unlocked as long as I correct the alleged
violations then it will stay unlocked otherwise "a criminal case will be initiated against you"
No matter what I do the screen stays locked on this notice, I SUSPECT that it has somehow come through AVD as my user name is given at the top of the
page. Had anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it.
I have had this happen found out it was due to using malware anti viruis, you have to start your computer in safe mode,if you can google australian FBI scam and it tells you what to do ???
It is not the federal police but some scum from some eastern bloc country

Donn,
It's sometimes called ransomware. Nothing to do with AVD, it just happened to latch on to some info from that page while you were visiting the site.
It tries to look for usernames to make itself look more authentic.
Here's some removing tips:
