Canberra veedub mechanics?

Howdy guys

Already did a bit of a search. I'm based in Belconnen and I know there's a VW Centre here. Obviously the Belconnen VW Centre would be most convenient but would the Tuggeranong VW Centre or the Beetle Exchange in Fyshwick be better for a '61 bug?

I need some work done on the brakes (pedal isn't as stiff as it should be), vacuum advance on the dizzy is leaking a bit of oily fuel and general work and a tuneup (it's probably been 6 months since my last service).

Thanks in advance guys!

Tuggeranong only does late model watercooled stuff now, I'd try Nick at Volksparts.

My bad, I assumed he only sold parts (kind of naive thinking I know). Any other votes for Nick or others? I'm guessing I'd have to take the car out to Bungendore if I go with him.

You could also see if A & R out at Mitchell is still a going concern.

Yep, A & R are still going.

Correct on the info above. The 2 VW Centres (Belco and Tuggeranong) will generally only work on water-cooled stuff these days. That leaves you with 3 options for air-cooled mechanics - A&R in Mitchell, Beetle Exchange in Fyshwick, and Volksparts. All 3 will be able to supply you with both parts and service.

You can probably get some of your work done at other specialists (eg brake specialist, etc) if you need to, but those are your VW-specific options.

Peter at vw exchange fyshwick has over 30yrs experience with aircooled dubs. Basic service is qouted at 180.
