As most of you would know, purchasing aftermarket parts can be a gamble in terms of fit, finish and durability. Even when paying the extra for "OE
equivalent" parts.
Has anyone purchased parts from Antonio Trejo who advertises on thesamba.com? He supplies genuine VW Mexico parts for Beetles.
I'm guessing shipping costs to Australia would be the biggest draw back. Or is there someone locally who supplies VW Mexico parts?
[size=4]Hi,
I bought a set of Mexican tail lamp lenses on ebay a few years ago from an Aussie.. they faded very badly and eventually just cracked even though the
car is not out in the sun.. unless being driven.. the red colour in the tail lamp was actually red ;paint?? lol
so the quality wasn't there..
I was told that no Aussie VW shops buy stuff from Mexico due to the lawlessness.. You wouldn't know if You would get Your parts or not?? not worth
the trouble..
I see some parts have VW do Mexico on them so maybe some parts are coming via Brasil or USA??
As the Mexican government banned Beetles from being Taxis.. had to have 4 doors.. production of parts will dry up very fast, I would think... as the
market shrinks very fast,,

Hi Lee
Yes I can imagine the difficulty the suppliers face when dealing with other country's like Mexico. I also purchased a set of Mexican "Hella"
taillight lenses for my daily drive 74 beetle in 2005, but they look as good as new and there in the QLD sun every day! And you are correct, some
stuff does get threw to our Aussie stores. Iv purchased a few genuine vw parts over the years including a complete RHS front quarter panel last month
for my 72 that was the real deal. I might try and purchase something small threw this Antonio fellow, He does have good feedback.
