Thank Heavens for Insurance!

Lucky the old 1500S survived this in the big wind a few weeks back!

Tree next door but MY problem. If a neighbour has a tree in poor condition (dead wood etc) have council inspect an force owner to remove. I had raised concerns to the owner 18 months back but nothing done as he claimed he was getting married and had no loot. This exercise looks like a bill of approx $30k to my insurer.

Ouch Dallas,

Glad to hear the notch survived, what else was inside? Hope you didn't lose anything irreplaceable.

Regards,

Matt.

Last I heard your tree, your responsibility, I was told years ago that if a tree in my yard caused damage to another property then the cost was on me, maybe things have changed:?:

Matt, Machinery all survived luckily as a faceplate and steadies from the lathe went flying from the hooks on the wall and landed between lathe and Notch. Mill only had tree debris on it but no damage. Toy aeroplane wise most on that side of workshop had from minor damage to total write-off. Can only claim on hobbies for material, not time.

Donn, not so these days. If a tree hangs over your property from next door that part is deemed yours. In this case what ever broke off from next door and landed on my property is my problem. If you have concerns about the condition of a tree have council look at it and maybe force owner to have it removed before it's too late. If I ever see another bloody gum tree poke it's head over the fence that close Mr chainsaw will be out! Sad thing is that I offered to pay half the cost of removal Feb. 2012.

Crikey, could have been a lot worse.

Glad everyone is ok

I enquired with my insurance a while back and was told the same thing as you Dallas

yes I know.

On my brother's property there was a small shed that had a vanguard stored for a friend for almost 10 years.

last year there was 150k winds and a branch of a pine tree about 1 foot diameter felll from way up and impaled the car almost right through and demolished the shed.

Total write off.
