Whitewalls??
kathawkephotos - October 6th, 2013 at 05:14 AM

Hey all,

Can't afford it right now, but I'm tossing up whether to get a set of whitewalls for my squareback eventually.
Just wondering who/where everyone gets theirs from/ who to avoid?

cheers,
Kat

Kat,
There's a guy in Melbourne who does them....I think the business is called Antique Tyres, he's a VW guy as well .
Pretty sure he advertises in VWMA as well

BUGBOY - October 7th, 2013 at 08:26 AM

I have a set of Atlas whitle walls that I don't need. PM me if your still after some.

wolfgang54 - October 7th, 2013 at 04:11 PM

im after some for my type1 54

at $250 each antique seem expensive..

seem to remember someone posting that a well known tyre joint had some with smaller white stripe for around $100???? anyone know?

They may not be what you think of as cheap - but then again they are good.
Far better than the atlas flaps, and look way better than the small stripe ones.

xerxes - October 7th, 2013 at 06:28 PM

I'm getting mine done on Thursday I'll let you know how it goes ...

Canni. - October 7th, 2013 at 07:42 PM

I got mine from Antique tyres, had for a few years now. Yes they aren't cheap but they look great. Only downside is for a daily driver they do get dirty quickly but they still clean up well.

They would suit your square!

hey mate, i've got a mobile guy who will come out to you and paint on the latex walls - any colour any thickness. works out about 30 bux a corner. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o171/esevwbits/20120725_143033.jpg

Antique Tyres are good for uncommon sizes in whitewalls, Maxxis also have a whitewall range in more common sizes. Both those options will last far longer than painted on lines.

esevwbits - October 9th, 2013 at 08:02 AM

well these have been on for over 2 years - parked in the sun on the street. still look like new.

Flappers destroy tyres and become very noisey.

i've always done paint on stripes - allows you to have any choice of tread / profile.

we got ours from John Cain at Newcastle for our 62 bug
they are great
