vlad01 - October 15th, 2013 at 12:29 PM

Anyone know who buys or where you can sell truffles? seems to me this highly sort after and expensive fungus is shrouded in secrecy regard the market for them.

I sold a few pieces at a local restaurant for 150 but still have over a Kg left.

no, you can smell them a mile away, they are so potent in smell. I can't understand why you need dogs. people must have bad sense of smell haha.

Anyway ^ that mob doesn't answer their phone, hear the message which tells me to call some other guy, try that number few times over the last 2 days. Also no answer.

I am so sick of that, seems every business in Australia don't want to answer and do business. I find more than half of Australian businesses don't bother answering, phone, email or messages.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Might try emailing them and see what happens.

you might need insurance to sell to a retailer, there are plenty of suppliers of craft insurers. have a look at a few farmers market insurers!

Don't have menus for it?!?!! what real chef wouldn't jump at the chance to offer them in any number of guises? almost worth a name and shame for those restaurants. When you have truffles you put those dishes on the damn menu. surely. where's your thread? truffles need their own forum, let alone their own thread.

mmm truffles.:spin:

So, how much for 100 g, carefully packed and posted?

vlad01 - October 21st, 2013 at 09:00 AM

Well I researched into the going prices a fair bit. For this type of truffle its around $3000+ a kg whole sale price somewhere around 2000 ish?

I would be happy to sell below the usual whole sale price just to get them moving along so they don't go to waist. I currently have them frozen. I have some frozen from last year and I tried one the other day to compare to the fresh. I couldn't tell any real difference.

We will make a decision on the price, and how to pack them as well . Vacuum packed will be ideal but I don't have the equipment for that. Perhaps I can borrow from someone?

great little product. have had one for 3 years. works a treat when taking meat etc on camping trips etc.

vlad01 - October 21st, 2013 at 05:08 PM

I want that just to store parts! our winters are nasty and tend to destroy parts not sealed in a container with silica gel.

I'll look at getting that.

Peter Leonard - October 27th, 2013 at 01:16 PM

I'll take 25g @ $50 vac sealed if you can post it to Perth. PM sent.
