satori - November 27th, 2013 at 08:13 PM

I am looking at a 2011 transporter 4motion which its factory warranty runs out in Jan 2014. Does anyone know the current cost of volkswagen extended warranty and if it is available to a new owner of the Van. Thanks

I am pretty sure it is available to you. You will have to check with your dealer, but the lat I heard, it was over $4k for the extended warranty on a T5 with DSG.

I got some prices today. And I tell you I was shocked to say the least. $4800 for 1 year unlimited KM or $5500 for 2 years unlimited. That really blows the budget out......

I just bought a brand spanking new Toyota Aurion, and signed the paperwork via email, a scanner here at home, and a few phone calls. The extended warranty cost me $1350, for 6yrs and/or 150K. When I mentioned I live in the bush and 10% of my travel would be graded fairly OK gravel roads, hence the extended warranty for peace of mind, the Toyota guys said that's what the Aurion was made for, to challenge Statesman, Commodore, Falcon, etc, on crappy roads around Australia.

I asked about my first option, a Jetta DSG with TDi (make mine black with a cream leather interior! :D), but was told gravel roads of any kind would void the warranty, it was considered "without due care". I was also told to "come on down", nothing could be done from my home (I live 350km from the city), not even discussing final pricing or accessories available. Therefore I had no choice but to NOT buy my preferred brand. This is a shame, because I'm fairly certain I was conceived in my Opa's borrowed Kombi, and in between my childhood spent in my Nanna's KG, my Opa's Kombis, and all my own kids growing up in various dak-daks, I would have thought getting a new one would be cool.

Pity really, obviously the old ones are much tougher than the new ones I guess.........

Shows how much confidence they have in their own product if they want to charge that much for a years warranty on a two year old vehicle??
