Can anyone in brisbane west subs lend a hand?
DungBeetle - December 5th, 2013 at 12:29 PM

Hey guys I don't usually ask for help from people I don't know, but it seems that because I've lived in brisbane for such a short amount of time I still don't know enough people yet.

I'm currently stripping down my 66 bug for a rebuild and have gotten it to the stage where it's almost ready to have the body lifted, but I can't seem to find enough people to help with this.

If anyone would be kind enough to lend a hand some time this weekend it would really be appreciated, as I have been held up for a few weeks trying to organize a few extra hands, but no'one seems to want to chip in.

I could probably help out Sunday morning if you get some others and that suits.

Yogie

DungBeetle - December 5th, 2013 at 03:29 PM

yeah sunday would be fine, but I still need 2 more, have been told it takes 4 people to safely lift the body off, I'm kind of a smallish bloke but I'll still give it a go.

Yogie - December 5th, 2013 at 03:45 PM

Do you have a trailer?

Yogie

Depending on how stripped it is you can pretty easily do it with two people... as in no guards, no windows, no doors.

But yeah - four is best.

I could probably spare an hour or so Sunday around 11'ish.

A box trailer and a couple of planks/sleepers maketh a good resting place for thy shell.

Yogie - December 5th, 2013 at 05:16 PM

Looks like you might have enough people now. The earlier the better for me so if you want to PM all of us your details, we should be able to work something out for you.

Cheers

sunday before 12 is great, I don't have a trailer tho, was planning on just sitting it on the ground on a pair of wooden planks I have until the time comes to work on the shell, atm I just want it off so I can strip the pan, weld in new floors and por15 the lot.

ok guys just waiting to hear back from stidub and then I'll know what time is best and who'll be able to make it, so far we got 2 people willing to do it before 11am and one after so depending on what time works for him we could either have 4 people for the morning (myself included) or 3 people split between the 2 halves of the day.

Carl and Emily - December 6th, 2013 at 07:08 PM

ah awesome, I would hope that I have everything prepared by then so all we would need to do is lift the body and walk it backwards and sit it on it's temporary base.

68BUS - December 7th, 2013 at 08:56 AM

Same for me at Carl. I am in corinda. I have to bring my 2year old as my wife is away and have a christening to attend at 10am.
If you get stuck and need to do it early I can come down with my daughter in tow early.

Geez. Reading that anyone would think English is my second language.

DungBeetle - December 7th, 2013 at 11:05 AM

Well it would seem the time that would best suit would be about 8am, which has caught me by surprise a little as I would have thought everyone would wan't to sleep in on a sunday lol :)

Anyways I'll text and/or pm everyone to confirm and with luck I'll see you guys tomorrow :)

DungBeetle - December 7th, 2013 at 03:27 PM

have texted 3 of you but only one has replied, guys if you could get back to me to confirm that you'll be able to help tomorrow at 8am that'd be great.

HappyDaze - December 7th, 2013 at 04:33 PM

Just turn up, all of you! The more the merrier......many hands make light work.

And DungBeetle, put on some 'refreshments' after the hard work is done.

Have fun.:tu:

DungBeetle - December 7th, 2013 at 04:37 PM

well I am a little bit of a scotch connoisseur, so I have plenty of that laying around, but aside from that all I have is water lol :B

DungBeetle - December 7th, 2013 at 05:24 PM

well so far I have willing

8am crew

carl and emily
68bus
yogie
blaksheep

have messaged 3 of them but only recieved one reply so far, yogie for some reason I thought you were only available post 11am so I didn't text you, my bad.

11am crew

sides
stibug

but that's still 1 person short, so might not be a go.

on another note, I just got attacked by a swarm of hornets while disconnecting the horn, little suckers have a nest under there that I wasn't aware of until now.

so now I need to wait for them to calm down enough to kill them.
