VW compressor trailer anyone know history
kuta - December 22nd, 2013 at 10:11 AM

We just got this compressor. It is called a Holman Trailair. Our plan is to clean it up and get it running.
Could someone tell me the engine number details ie what year. Do you think it is the original engine for it? Any other info on this would be great.

The NSW Railways used to have a few of those and I think that the army also had them.

Looks like then engine runs on 2 cylinders, pumps air with the other 2. Most industrial engines have a 124 or 126A engine number, never seen an 'S' one before

All looks good. I think you'll find its a 1600 single port motor. It will have it on the tag. you air gauge has been moved to the top of your tank.
Dizzy is correct.

There are a lot of different variations of these, I have seen 4 not including the one above and I'm sure there are more about.
