VW mags again
Paul Cave - January 24th, 2014 at 11:26 AM

I noticed Craig's VWMA has just gone digital. Well done Craig! It's definitely the future.

We've been busy with our tenth Special Edition. What's extra nice is AussieVeedubbers gets a mention in the mag in one of the eleven mp3 embedded sound files. Two Aussie VWs in this whopper 305 page version of Aircooled Classics. A beautiful Bay currently residing in Perth and a Melburnian Beetle aka The DreamWeaver.

You'll find a preview of the contents at http://aircooledclassicsmagazine.com/blog/aircooled-classics-issue-10/

Have a great long weekend!

Hey Paul,

I subscribed to air-cooled classics a week or two ago on my iPad, and no matter how many times i "restore subscriptions" and restart the iPad, it still displays the new issue as needing payment...
i assumed it may not have processed the payment, so tried to re-purchase it, at which point it says my subscription is current until august...

just wondering if there's something else I should try? (and also why a 1yr subscription is expiring in august...)?
cheers,

Kat

I also have a problem with the site freezing when it completed my payment, it now shows that I have no subscriptions and in my order history it says that my order is false, I have a paypal receite and emailed help@pocketmags.com but have not received a reply.

I just got a full refund from pocketmags with no explanation as to why, just a apology for the confusion.

That's kind of why I like the feel of paper

All sorted, I better let people know that these are the best vw mag that I have ever read, I have all the hot vw's, Airmighty, the Australian vw mags for the last ten years, over 200 pages of interesting cars and articles in the current edition , all for $5.49, I like the tactile feel of a good book but I suppose it is time to stop cutting down the trees..

Sorry not got back to you sooner with the tech prob issues.

Kat, have you sorted the app problems? We supply the product, not the app, and it's annoying (to us and you) when these things happen. Try help@pocketmags.com if you haven't. The thing is we're on your side and so are Pocketmags. They are very good indeed and will work through a problem with you. Sometimes it's as simple as 'turning it off and on again' but not always. The app works - but sometimes technology comes unstuck.

Let me know all is OK.

Paul.

BTW We've put some more info about the 305 page current special issue #10 on our website. http://aircooledclassicsmagazine.com/blog/category/issue-10/

In the rare instances that anyone has problems with purchasing or downloading either Aircooled Classics or Kombi Life please contact us and we'll help resolve the issue.

Kat, can you please send a copy of your iTunes receipt and we'll sort this out. If you can't find your receipt contact us anyway through the above contact email and we'll go from there.

Paul

Whilst I love all the technologies avialable to us in this day and age, I simply cannot bring myself to read a digital Mag.
Theres just something about holding that paper in your hand, or waiting eagerly by the letterbox for one of your many subscriptions to arrive.
Not to mention, having a Library of VW mags dating back to the 60's to lose yourself in on a wet winters afternoon.

If there was anyway I could buy your Magazine in Paper, you would deffinately have a subscriber for life.

Fair enough.

If we produced it in paper form it would be at least $15 - $20 a pop (bearing in mind the current issue is 305 pages long!), weigh in at... well, it would weigh so much it probably would cause chaos wherever it landed, and postage costs would be ridiculous. It wouldn't contain video or sound files, or galleries, or drop down menus, etc. and, on a more serious note, it would pull heaps of advertising revenue from the local Aussie traders which... would mean less in the pot to support VWMA.

We thought about the consequences of this - it could be disasterous for both mags (in paper form). So we decided not to tread on VWMA's toes as a kind gesture and to keep our content only partially Australian so as not to repeat or get repeated. In fact, the content is VERY different indeed.

I understand some people's thoughts towards digital and interactive digital mags (us being the more technical latter) means a NEVER EVER!!! approach to digital magazine reading, but there's nothing stopping you from keeping all your old mags and enjoying something entirely different from the norm at a fraction of the price and still buying paper, is there? At close to $10 a year for Aircooled Classics and Kombi Life it's a no brainer, IMHO. But that's just me. Each to their own.

Did someone mention The Aircooled Advertiser? Didn't that turn into eBay? Or a forum where members sell VW goods? That's progress for you! Damn this digital era!!! ;-)

Spreading our wings a little... Freezing VW Show in the UK

Thanks for the reply :)
Like I said I'm not against the digital age (I do 3D design for a living) I'm just old school when it comes to my library I suppose.
