DSK forum- How does one get back on it?
berserkerbus - January 25th, 2014 at 06:24 PM

I have been away for a while and have not been able to logon onto http://www.dsk.com.au  It recognises my login details, but says I have to contact an administrator as it is inactive. Every time I go to contact an administrator on the DSK site, it asks me to login....Any ideas?

mactaylor - January 25th, 2014 at 06:48 PM

dunno they dont like me at all, funny i have played with more dubs than most and i cant get a look in, must not be cool enough! melburgluft the same. Im not bitter just depressed. must need more vws!

berserkerbus - January 25th, 2014 at 07:16 PM

Same, I really want to get my dual cab splitty restored and that forum was awesome for tips. Maybe I have to get rid of it and pretend I have one !!

Dibsy - January 25th, 2014 at 09:54 PM

I had a quick look at the FAQ's and it recommends you just re-register as a new user. Once in you may be able to reactivate your old account via an administrator.

Cheers,

Mark.

berserkerbus - January 26th, 2014 at 10:28 PM

Thanks Mark, will give that go.

berserkerbus - January 26th, 2014 at 10:33 PM

From DSK "We have disabled the forum registration process due to the number of spammer registrations. If you want to register, send me an email with your details and we will register you. Let me know your: 1. Real name 2. preferred username, 3. email address 4. mobile phone number.."

They can stick it. I only want to reactivate my old account, not apply for a car or house loan from them.

h - January 26th, 2014 at 11:06 PM

^ oh?? I don't think that is unreasonable..
if admin are having hacker probs or whatever, prolly just a precaution yeah
yeah it is a good forum for the splitty info etc no doubt
even for DC peeps
maybe it's not for you
but plenty of good dubbers here :starhit:

berserkerbus - January 26th, 2014 at 11:40 PM

1. My real name? 4. Phone number? I have no problems giving them my username and email address; am not going on a date with them so I don't see why they require such information. They can come fly to Cairns and meet me, then, after I feel that I can trust them, they may be privy to such information. Until such time, it is not going to happen. I just want my old profile reactivated after spending a considerable time overseas without internet.

bussboy - January 27th, 2014 at 08:27 AM

If you have a problem then email them, there is an email address supplied on the page you have quoted above

berserkerbus - January 27th, 2014 at 10:52 AM

bussboy, finally found the email address :D Could not get access to the page yesterday for some reason.

Be patient as there have been a lot of spamming crap that caused drama , I've just about finished putting another split DC back on the rd not many around and good to see more on there

matara - January 27th, 2014 at 04:41 PM

Hi, I am an admin on dsk, and if you drop me an email to sam@matara.net with your last registered email I will activate your account. There's no funny business going on, we are just trying to keep the spammers and bots at bay. The details are just to verify you are indeed a real person, we are more interested in splits than dates of birth.

Cheers

Steve

berserkerbus - January 27th, 2014 at 07:04 PM

No worries, was on a really old laptop that was not displaying everything, hence it took a while to figure out. will send email. Have you put the anti-bot script in the first few lines of the websites code?

68BUS - January 28th, 2014 at 08:34 AM

Chances are that the Mods on DSK got sick of trawling through dodgy registrations.
Talking with Melissa on KC a while back. She spends a huge amount of time doing it for that forum. I could see if getting very tedious very quickly.
Better that someone wanting to sign up having to spend a few extra minute than a mod having to spend a shed load every week.

byronbus - January 28th, 2014 at 10:17 PM

If you dont like the registration requirements then dont join, simple...

Its also not a public forum and we reserve the right to accept or not accept your registration.

We treat dsk like our home. We dont like people that just want to stand outside the windows and look in. We like to know who is inside our home.

If inactive for a period of time, you get moved on. Some of the comments above reflect why we changed it. I know plenty of people who have been around VWs for a long time who are wankers and are not welcome.

I like melburglufts requirement that you have to meet or know someone and come recommended, maybe we will follow that approach soon...

Anyway, youve been reactivated for now, maybe contribute and you may feel welcome...

Cheers

Maybe say hi and get involved, much more rewarding and won't get deactivated for only browsing the classifieds

MISS VDUB - February 11th, 2014 at 07:56 AM

DSK is a fantastic forum for Splitty lovers and owners. You only get what you put in, so join to contribute.

What happens if you are a splitty lover, but not owner, so you can't contribute any knowledge, tips, stories.....would I be allowed to join the forum if I posted once and said I really like splitties but don't own one so would just like to browse the classifieds ?? I used to be a lurker on that forum and got great enjoyment from reading about everyone's efforts in restoring, driving and owning their splits. Guess that isn't an option these days.

h - February 11th, 2014 at 09:48 PM

^ I don't think that 'not' owning one makes you any less of an enthusiast..
it is a place to hang out and get involved and aspire to get into the fold (so to speak)
if your dream is to get a splitty, restore and revive your vw spirit then that is a space that will get you there
enjoy the split eye candy and enjoy what is on offer :D

Read what i wrote... "DSK is a fantastic forum for Splitty lovers"...

Plenty to contribute to if you don't own one, DSK just like their members to be active as we all have something we can contribute in one way or another and there is nothing wrong with that.

byronbus - February 12th, 2014 at 08:48 PM

You dont have to own one at all, as said above... just be involved...

We even have a member that owns heaps but has never driven one, maybe driven one once... get involved...
